Eyes (Donna Summer Song)
"Eyes" is a song by American pop singer Donna Summer, released as the third and final single from her twelfth studio album '' Cats Without Claws'' (1984). The song as written by Summer and Michael Omartian and produced by the latter. It was released on May 14, 1985 by Geffen Records (US) and Warner Bros. Records (UK). Edited in length from the original version on the album and remixed by John "Jellybean" Benitez, the single peaked at No. 97 for one week in the UK Singles Chart. A remix of the calypso-ish "I'm Free" from the ''Cats Without Claws'' album was included on the B-side of the UK release of the "Eyes" 12" single. "I'm Free" was performed by Summer and her back-up band on a Dick Clark's '' American Bandstand'' 1984 Christmas special, and Soul Train, indicating that the song had originally been intended to be the next single. Donna Summer
LaDonna Adrian Gaines (December 31, 1948May 17, 2012), known professionally as Donna Summer, was an American singer and songwriter. She gained prominence during the disco era of the 1970s and became known as the " Queen of Disco", while her music gained a global following. Influenced by the counterculture of the 1960s, Summer became the lead singer of a psychedelic rock band named Crow and moved to New York City. In 1968, she joined a German adaptation of the musical ''Hair'' in Munich, where she spent several years living, acting, and singing. There, she met music producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, and they went on to record influential disco hits together such as " Love to Love You Baby" and "I Feel Love", marking Summer's breakthrough into international music markets. Soul Train
''Soul Train'' is an American musical variety television show. It aired in syndication from October 2, 1971, to March 25, 2006. Across its 35-year history the show primarily featured performances by R&B, soul, and hip hop artists. The series was created by Don Cornelius, who also served as its first host and executive producer. Production was suspended following the 2005–2006 season, with a rerun package under the moniker ''The Best of Soul Train'' airing for two years subsequently. As a nod to ''Soul Train''s longevity, the show's opening sequence during later seasons contained a claim that it was the "longest-running first-run, nationally syndicated program in American television history", with over 1,100 episodes produced from the show's debut through the 2005–2006 season. ''American Bandstand'', abbreviated ''AB'', is an American music-performance and dance television program that aired in various versions from 1952 to 1989, and was hosted from 1956 until its final season by Dick Clark, who also served as the program's producer.
