Expedition of Hamza ibn 'Abdul-Muttalib ( ar, سرية حمزة بن عبد المطلب), also known as Sīf Al-Baḥr platoon ( ar, سرية سِيفُ البَحْرِ) was the first expedition sent out by the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It was sent in A.H. 1 of the Islamic calendar in the month of Ramadan (March, 623 CE). The raid, which was to intercept a caravan that belonged to Quraish, was undertaken by the Muhajirun (Muslim exiles in Medina) alone (none of the Ansar, Helpers of Madinah, participated in it).Mubarakpuri, The Sealed Nectar (Free Version), p. 127. Description The raid was ordered by Muhammad seven to nine months after the Hijrah. Muhajirun
The ''Muhajirun'' ( ar, المهاجرون, al-muhājirūn, singular , ) were the first converts to Islam and the Islamic prophet Muhammad's advisors and relatives, who emigrated with him from Mecca to Medina, the event known in Islam as the ''Hijra''. The early Muslims from Medina are called the '' Ansar'' ("helpers"). During Muhammad's era About a month after Hamzah's unsuccessful attack in the first caravan raid, Muhammad entrusted a party of sixty ''Muhajirun'' led by Ubaydah to conduct another operation at a Quraysh caravan that was returning from Syria and protected by one hundred men.
