This article lists the cantonal executives of Switzerland. Each canton of Switzerland has its own executive body, as well as legislative body. The Federal Council is the executive of the Swiss federal government, and is included for purposes of comparison. The cantonal executives are collegial bodies, each with 5 or 7 members. They are generally called ' (Executive Council) in German-speaking cantons and ' (State Council) in French-speaking cantons. General structure Presidents of the executives The above mentioned collegial bodies are formally chaired by a president. However those presidents are primus inter pares, that is a ''first among equals'' in the council. Natalie Simone Rickli (born 19 November 1976 in Winterthur, Switzerland) is a Swiss people, Swiss politician of the Swiss People's Party. Biography Rickli started her professional career in the publishing business. The Cantonal Council of Zürich (german: Zürcher Kantonsrat) is the legislature of the canton of Zürich, in Switzerland. Zürich has a unicameral legislature. The Cantonal Council has 180 seats, with members elected every four years. Elections The council is re-elected every four years. Like other legislatures in Switzerland, elections use party list proportional representation. There are eighteen constituencies, which are based on the canton's twelve districts. The district of Winterthur is split into two constituencies, one representing the city of Winterthur, and the other representing the surrounding countryside.
