Evaristo De Moraes Filho
Evaristo de Morais Filho (1914-2016) was a Brazilian lawyer and former member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. He was born in Rio de Janeiro on July 5, 1914, the son of Antônio Evaristo de Morais and Flávia Dias de Morais, and died on July 22, 2016, in Rio de Janeiro, at the age of 102. He was married to Hileda Flores de Moraes, with whom he had a couple of children. He did his primary education at the Nilo Peçanha Public School, in São Cristóvão, and junior high at the 28 de Setembro Gymnasium. Brazilian Academy Of Letters
The Academia Brasileira de Letras (ABL) ( English: ''Brazilian Academy of Letters'') is a Brazilian literature, literary non-profit society established at the end of the 19th century. The first president, Machado de Assis, declared its foundation on Tuesday, 15 December 1896, with the by-laws being passed on Thursday, 28 January 1897. On Tuesday, 20 July of the same year, the academy started its operation. According to its statutes, it is the pre-eminent Portuguese council for matters pertaining to the Portuguese language. The ABL is considered the foremost institution devoted to the Portuguese language in Brazil. São Cristóvão (, ''Saint Christopher'') is a Brazilian municipality in the Northeastern state of Sergipe. Alceu Amoroso Lima
Alceu Amoroso Lima (Petrópolis, December 11, 1893 – Rio de Janeiro, August 14, 1983) was a writer, journalist, activist from Brazil, and founder of the Brazilian Christian Democracy. He adopted the pseudonym ''Tristão de Ataíde'' in 1919. In 1928 he converted to Catholicism and eventually became head of Catholic Action in Brazil. Although he initially had some sympathy for certain aims of Brazilian integralism he became a strong opponent of authoritarianism in general and Fascism in particular. That came in part through the influence of Jacques Maritain. He was a staunch advocate for press freedom during the period of military dictatorship. Josué de Sousa Montello (August 21, 1917 – March 15, 2006) was a Brazilian writer and diplomat and a former president of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Biography First years and teenagerhood He was born in São Luís do Maranhão on August 21, 1917. He was the son of Antônio Bernardo Montello and Mância de Sousa Montello.
