Evan Alfred Evans (March 19, 1876 – July 7, 1948) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Education and career Born in Spring Green, Wisconsin, Evans received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1897 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1899. He then practiced law in Baraboo, Wisconsin from 1900 to 1916. Federal judicial service Evans was nominated by President Woodrow Wilson on May 1, 1916, to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit vacated by Judge William Henry Seaman. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 10, 1916, and received his commission the same day. Evan Walker Evans (born February 11, 1965) is an American professional off-road racer. He raced in the Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) series in the 1990s when he was the Pro 2 champion in CORR despite racing using hand controls since he is a paraplegic. Evan Evans (1813 – 23 November 1891) was Master of Pembroke College, Oxford from 1864 to 1891, and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford from 1878 to 1882. Early years Evans was born in Cardiff in 1813, the second son of David Evans, a gentleman, and attended Cowbridge School. At the age of 18 went up to Jesus College, Oxford and was matriculated on 22 June 1831, but he migrated to Pembroke College after they awarded him a scholarship, obtaining a Second Class in Literae Humaniores in 1835 and collecting his M.A. in 1838. Career Evans was Philipps Fellow of Pembroke College, Oxford from 1843 to 1864, serving as Tutor and senior Dean of the college. In 1851, he was appointed Vicegerent, and then on 3 March 1864 he was elected Master of the College and Canon of Gloucester: this was a combined position that he held until his death in 1891, spending time in the vacation at his canonical residence in Gloucester. Evan Evans (20 May 1731 – 4 August 1788) (bardic name ', also known as ') was a Welsh-language poet, clergyman, antiquary and literary critic. Evans, son of Jenkin Evans, was born at Cynhawdref, in the parish of Lledrod, Cardiganshire. He received his education at the grammar school of Ystrad Meurig, under the scholar and poet Edward Richard. He moved to Oxford, and entered Merton College in 1751 but left without graduating. He had conveyed a small freehold in Cardiganshire to his younger brother for £100, in order to support himself at the university. By 1754 he had been ordained as a priest, and he served as curate in at least eighteen different parishes, including at Newick in Sussex, at Tywyn in Merionethshire, at Llanberis and Llanllechid in Carnarvonshire, and at Llanfair Talhaiarn in Denbighshire. Evan Evans (Ieuan Glan Geirionydd)
Evan Evans (20 April 1795 – 21 January 1855), was a Welsh clergyman, poet, hymnwriter, journalist, translator and devotional writer, who was three times chaired at the National Eisteddfod. His works were almost all written in the Welsh language, the poems being published under his bardic name, Ieuan Glan Geirionydd. Seven of his poems are included in ''The Oxford Book of Welsh Verse''. His best-known poems are perhaps ''Ysgoldy Rhad Llanrwst'', ''Glan Geirionydd'' and ''Cyflafan Morfa Rhuddlan'', and his hymns include ''Rwy'n sefyll ar dymhestlog lan'' and ''Mae 'nghyfeillion adre'n myned''. Evan Evans (minister)
Evan Evans (1804–1886), generally known in Wales as Evans bach Nantyglo, was a Welsh dissenting minister. Evans was born at Gellillyndy, Llanddewibrefi, Cardiganshire, 8 March 1804. He commenced preaching with the Calvinistic Methodists in 1825; became a total abstainer in 1830, and met with much persecution for his advocacy of temperance principles, which were new in those days. In 1847 he joined the independents, and continued a popular minister among them through life. In 1869 he was induced to emigrate to America, whither a daughter and several brothers and sisters had gone before him, taking up his residence at Oak Hill, Ohio. In 1881, he collected a small Welsh church in Arkansas, the first in the state, and continued in charge of it until his death on 29 October 1886. His wife died in January of the same year. Evan Herber Evans (5 July 183630 December 1896), was a Welsh Nonconformist minister. Early life He was the eldest son of Josiah and Sarah Evans of Pant-yr-onen, near Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire, where he was born on 5 July 1836. As a boy he witnessed something of the "Rebecca Riots", and went to school at the neighbouring village of Llechryd. He spent several of his earlier years with his grandfather, Jonah Evans, at Pen-yr-Herber, whence, some twenty years later, he adopted his second name. Evan William Evans (January 6, 1827-May 22, 1874) was a Welsh-American mathematician and the first professor at Cornell University. Evans, son of William and Catharine (Howell), was born Jan. 6, 1827 in Llangyfelach, near Swansea, South Wales. His parents moved to Bradford County, Pa., in 1831, where he obtained his early education. He graduated from Yale College in 1851. He studied theology at New Haven for about a year, and then became principal of the Delaware Literary Institute, in Franklin, N. Y. From this position he was called to a tutorship at Yale, which he resigned, however, after one year's service (1855-6). In 1857 he was appointed Professor of Natural Philosophy and Astronomy at Marietta College, Ohio, and filled that place until 1864.
