Charles Eusèbe Casgrain
Charles Eusèbe Casgrain (August 3, 1825 – March 8, 1907) was an Ontario physician and political figure. He was a Conservative Party of Canada (historical), Conservative member of the Senate of Canada for Windsor division from 1887 to 1907. He was born Charles-Eugène Casgrain in Quebec City, Lower Canada in 1825, the son of Charles-Eusèbe Casgrain, and studied at the College of St. Anne's and McGill University, McGill College, graduating as an Doctor of Medicine, MD. He entered practice at Detroit in 1851 and married Charlotte Mary Chase in the same year, but moved to Sandwich (later Windsor, Ontario, Windsor) in 1856. He was also appointed coroner for Essex County, Ontario, Essex County. Casgrain was surgeon for the local militia during the Fenian raids. He served as a member of the town council for Windsor and as a long-time member of the local school board. He was named a knight of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre by Pope Leo XIII in 1884. Charles-Eusèbe Casgrain
Charles-Eusèbe Casgrain (December 28, 1800 – February 29, 1848) was a lawyer and political figure in Lower Canada. He was born at Rivière-Ouelle in Lower Canada in 1800, the son of merchant Pierre Casgrain, and studied at the Petit Séminaire de Montréal, Petit Séminaire de Québec and the Séminaire de Nicolet. He articled in law with Louis Moquin at Quebec City and was called to the bar in 1824. In the same year, he married Eliza Anne, the daughter of James Baby who was a judge and political figure in Upper Canada. Casgrain first set up practice at Quebec and then moved back to Rivière-Ouelle in 1827. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for Kamouraska in 1830; he did not support the Ninety-Two Resolutions. Casgrain served on the Special Council which administered the province after the Lower Canada Rebellion. In 1846, he was named deputy commissioner of public works at Montreal. Charles-Eusèbe Dionne
Charles-Eusèbe Dionne (20 July 1846 – 25 January 1925), also known as Charles Eusebe or C. E. Dionne, was a French Canadian naturalist and taxidermist. He is considered the first professional French Canadian ornithologist. Dionne was a self-taught scientist and wrote several books on the natural history of Quebec, including the first field guide to the province's mammal fauna; he was a well-respected scholar and became a fellow of the American Ornithologists' Union. Biography Dionne was born in 1846 to a modest rural family in Saint-Denis-de-la-Bouteillerie, near Kamouraska, the eldest of six boys and five girls born to Eusèbe Dionne and Amélie Lavoie. Eusèbe Renaudot
Eusèbe Renaudot (; 20 July 16461 September 1720) was a French theologian and Orientalist. Biography Renaudot was born in Paris, and brought up and educated for a career in the church. After being educated by the Jesuits, and joining the Oratorians in 1666, he was in poor health, left his order, and never took more than minor orders. Despite his interest in theology and his title of '' abbé'', much of his life was spent at the French court, where he attracted the notice of Colbert and was often employed in confidential affairs. He was a prominent supporter of Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet, in the controversies with Richard Simon, François Fénelon and the Jesuits. In later life his attitudes became Gallican and Jansenist. Eusèbe Jaojoby (born 29 July 1955), commonly known by his surname Jaojoby , is a Malagasy composer and singer of ''salegy'', a musical style of northwestern Madagascar. Critics consider him to be one of the originators of the modern salegy style that emerged in the 1970s, and credit him with transforming the genre from an obscure regional musical tradition into one of national and international popularity. Jaojoby also contributed to the creation of two salegy subgenres, ''malessa'' and ''baoenjy''. Jaojoby has been called the most popular singer in Madagascar and the Indian Ocean islands, and is widely referred to as the "King of Salegy". His success has earned him such honors as Artist of the Year in Madagascar for two consecutive years (1998–1999) and the role of Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund in 1999.
