Committees Of The European Parliament
The committees of the European Parliament are designed to aid the European Commission in initiating legislation. Standing committees are made up of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), who are directly elected to the seats in the European Parliament by the electorate. Each committee has a chairman and four vice-chairmen, along with numerous committee members. Each committee also has substitute members. Reports are usually compiled by a rapporteur, who is appointed by the chairman of the committee, selected from amongst the members or permanent substitutes. Appointment The established system for the appointment of committee chairs follows the D'Hondt method. Mary Honeyball
Mary Hilda Rosamund Honeyball (born 12 November 1952 in Weymouth, Dorset) is a former British Labour Party politician. She was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for London from 2000 to 2019. Seventh on Labour's 1999 list, she had not been elected in the 1999 European Parliament election, but replaced Pauline Green, who resigned as an MEP in November 1999. Honeyball was subsequently elected to the European Parliament in 2004, 2009, and 2014. She did not stand for re-election in 2019, and resigned from the Labour Party shortly after voting closed in the UK. Honeyball rejoined the Labour Party during 2021. Joanna Katarzyna Skrzydlewska (born 17 February 1977 in Łódź) is a Polish politician. Nikki Sinclaire
Nicole Sinclaire (born 26 July 1968) is a British politician and former leader of the We Demand a Referendum Party who served as a Member of the European Parliament for the West Midlands from 2009 to 2014. She was elected MEP in June 2009, as a UK Independence Party candidate but later resigned from the Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) group in which UKIP sat as a part in the European Parliament, citing the alleged extreme right-wing views of some of the group's members, including outspoken views condemning homosexuals and migrants. Subsequently, Sinclaire sat as an Independent MEP from January 2010 until September 2012, during which time she set up the We Demand a Referendum party. Raül Romeva i Rueda (born 12 March 1971) is a politician from Spain and a former Member of the European Parliament with the , part of the European Greens. He sat on the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs and its Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality. In the Catalan parliamentary election of 2015 he led the Pro-Independence electoral list, Together for Yes. He was named Minister for External and Institutional Relations, and Transparency in the Catalan Regional Government under President Carles Puigdemont on January 14, 2016 before his role was revoked by the Spanish Government on the 27th of October 2017, as part of the application of the constitution's article 155 during the Catalan Crisis. Antonyia Parvanova ( bg, Антония Първанова; born 26 April 1962, in Dobrich) is a Bulgarian politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament in 2007 and from 2009 until 2014. She is a member of the National Movement Simeon II, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Rodi Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou is a Greek politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2014, and served as First Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2007 to 2009.
