Geography Eumundi is 21 km south-west of Noosa Heads and 118 km north of the state capital, Brisbane. It is located just off the Bruce Highway. Nearby towns are Yandina and Cooroy. The town's name is believed to come from the Kabi name Ngumundi, the name of a local Indigenous clan leader, who was said to have adopted escaped convict Bracefield as his adopted son. Eumundi Railway Station
Eumundi railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the town of Eumundi in the Sunshine Coast Region. History The original Eumundi railway station opened in 1891 on Gympie Road (now Memorial Drive) opposite Gridley Street () as part of the opening of the North Coast line; it is now the site of the Eumundi Markets. The current railway station opened in 1988 when a deviation was built as part of the electrification of the North Coast line. The station today consists of one platform with a steel shelter. In 2009, the platform was extended with scaffolding and plywood materials. Initially intended as an interim arrangement until a permanent extension was built, the temporary platform remained until December 2019. A permanent reconstruction of the platform commenced in May 2019 and was completed by December 2019. Bruce Highway
The Bruce Highway is a major highway in Queensland, Australia. Commencing in the state capital, Brisbane, it passes through areas close to the eastern coast on its way to Cairns in Far North Queensland. Eerwah Vale is a locality split between the Sunshine Coast Region and Shire of Noosa, both in Queensland, Australia. In the Eerwah Vale had a population of 621 people. The North Coast railway line is a 1067 mm railway line in Queensland, Australia. It commences at Roma Street station, Brisbane, and largely parallels the Queensland coast to Cairns in Far North Queensland. The line is electrified between Brisbane and Rockhampton. The Sunshine Coast is a peri-urban region in South East Queensland, Australia. Cooroy Mountain is a rural locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. In the , Cooroy Mountain had a population of 136 people. History Cooroy Mountain's name came from Mount Cooroy, which was originally called Coorooey, from the Aboriginal word for possum, ''kurui''. Kuri'bigil'ba is the name of Cooroy Mountain in the dialect of the Kabi speaking aboriginal peoples of this area. It means ''the place where the Sun God came down to Dha (Earth).'' It is believed the mountain turned yellow once a year due to the flowering of an unknown tree.
