Eugene O'Sullivan (Irish Politician)
Eugene O'Sullivan (1879 – 19 May 1942) was an Irish nationalist politician and farmer, who was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for East Kerry in January 1910, but was unseated on petition shortly afterwards. Sporting career Joining the Dr Crokes club in the 1890s as a playing member he captained the great club team which won the 1901 Kerry Senior Football Championship and up to 1905 was a regular member. He played with and captained the Kerry team 1902–1904 and was also a regular member of the Killarney hurling team. In 1903 he was elected chairman of the Kerry Co. Board and under his guidance for the next five years the Co. Board was very active and the Kerry footballers broke through for national recognition. December 1910 United Kingdom General Election
The December 1910 United Kingdom general election was held from 3 to 19 December. It was the last general election to be held over several days and the last to be held before the First World War. The election took place following the efforts of the Liberal government to pass its People's Budget in 1909, which raised taxes on the wealthy to fund social welfare programs. The 1909 budget was only agreed to by the House of Lords in April 1910 after the January general election in which the Liberals and the Irish Parliamentary Party gained a majority. The Government called a further election in December 1910 to get a mandate for the Parliament Act 1911, which would prevent the House of Lords from permanently blocking legislation linked to money bills ever again, and to obtain King George V's agreement to threaten to create sufficient Liberal peers to pass that act (in the event this did not prove necessary, as the Lords voted to curtail their own powers). This article chronologically lists players who have captained the senior Kerry county football team in the Munster Senior Football Championship and the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. If a player captained Kerry in multiple games in a year but that captaincy was broken by an absence from the starting line up, then there will be separate entries for that player for that year. Thady O'Gorman
Thady O'Gorman (30 May 1874 – 15 July 1944) was an Irish Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Tralee Mitchels and was an All-Ireland Championship-winning captain with the Kerry senior football team. Playing career Born in Tralee, O'Gorman first played Gaelic football when he joined the Tralee Mitchels club as a 17-year-old. He won three county senior championship medals with the club between 1897 and 1903, captaining the team in the latter year. O'Gorman first lined out for the Kerry senior team at the age of 20 but enjoyed his greatest success at the end of his career. In 1903 he became the first player to captain Kerry to the All-Ireland Championship, before claiming a second successive winners' medal the following year. Timothy O'Sullivan (nationalist Politician)
Timothy O'Sullivan (7 January 1879 – 5 August 1950) was an Irish nationalist politician who was Member of Parliament (MP) for East Kerry from December 1910 to 1918, taking his seat in the House of Commons of what was then the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The East Kerry seat had been won at the January 1910 general election by his cousin Eugene O'Sullivan, who had been unseated in June by an electoral court which found that he had used intimidation to win the election. No by-election was called, and the seat remained vacant until the December 1910 general election, when Timothy O'Sullivan was elected as an Irish Parliamentary Party candidate. He won the seat with 66% of the votes, defeating the All-for-Ireland League candidate Patrick Guiney.
