Eugene O'Brien (playwright)
Eugene O'Brien is an Irish playwright, screenwriter, and actor. He is best known for his very successful play '' Eden'', which after playing at the Peacock Theatre/Abbey Theatre in Dublin was put on in the West End of London and Broadway in New York City. In 2001 the play won the ''Irish Times'' Best New Play of the Year Award and Stewart Parker Prize. O'Brien's second play, ''Savoy'', premiered on the Peacock stage in 2004. Works The author of several radio plays for RTÉ, '' The Nest'' and ''Sloth'', in 2005 he wrote the screenplay to '' Pure Mule'', a six-part television drama for RTÉ, which garnered five Irish Film and Television awards. Bickerstaffe is a village and civil parish in the West Lancashire district of Lancashire, England. According to the 2001 Census the population of the civil parish was 1,196, reducing to 1,180 at the 2011 census, although the population of the electoral ward, which includes Lathom South, was slightly greater at 2,013, reducing to 1,988 at the 2011 census. The village is near junction 3 of the M58 motorway, and is about four miles west of Skelmersdale. History Its name may come from Anglo-Saxon ''bïcera stæþ'' = "the beekeepers' landing-place". The Rooney Prize for Irish Literature was created in 1976 by the Irish American businessman Dan Rooney, owner and chairman of the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers franchise and former US Ambassador to Ireland. Ballykissangel
''Ballykissangel'' is a BBC television drama created by Kieran Prendiville and set in Ireland, produced in-house by BBC Northern Ireland. The original story revolved around a young English Roman Catholic priest as he became part of a rural community. It ran for six series, which were first broadcast on BBC One in the United Kingdom from 1996 to 2001. It aired in Ireland on RTÉ One and in Australia on ABC TV from 1996 to 2001. Repeats have been shown on Drama in the United Kingdom and in the United States on some PBS affiliates. Glasshouse Theatre
The Glass House, or Johnson house, is a historic house museum on Ponus Ridge Road in New Canaan, Connecticut built in 1948–49. It was designed by architect Philip Johnson as his own residence. It has been called his "signature work". The Glass House has been "universally viewed as having been derived from" the Farnsworth House in Plano, Illinois by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe according to Alice T. Friedman, though the Farnsworth House was not completed until 1951, two years after the Glass House.
