Etoniah Creek State Forest
Etoniah Creek State Forest is in the U.S. state of Florida. The forest is located in North Central Florida, west of Palatka near Florahome. This area is the only known site for '' Conradina etonia'', an endangered plant. Etoniah Creek forest has two tracts. The main tract runs from Coral Farms Road southwest of George's Lake toward the north side of Florida State Road 100 east of Florahome, and includes the creek of the namesake of the forest. The Manning Tract is northeast of the main tract along Putnam County Road 309D (Bardin Road), and is named for Manning Road, a local side street on the west side of that route. The Palatka-Lake Butler State Trail bisects the southern edge of the forest. The Florida National Scenic Trail also runs through parts of the forest. The Florida Trail is one of eleven National Scenic Trails in the United States. It currently runs , from Big Cypress National Preserve (between Miami and Naples, Florida along the Tamiami Trail) to Fort Pickens at Gulf Islands National Seashore, Pensacola Beach. Also known as the Florida National Scenic Trail (which applies only to its federally certified segments), the Florida Trail provides permanent non-motorized recreation opportunity for hiking and other compatible activities and is within an hour of most Floridians. Florahome, Florida
Florahome is an Unincorporated area, unincorporated community in Putnam County, Florida, Putnam County, Florida, United States, located on State Road 100 (Florida), State Road 100. The town was established in 1899 by the Georgia Southern and Florida Railway. The streets are laid in a grid system. Streets north and south are named for trees or shrubs. Streets east and west are named for states or provinces. Early in the town's history, it was surrounded by swamps. These were drained when canals were dredged by the Etoniah Canal and Drainage Company. Florahome was also once an island and was drained of all its water to make way for crops, animals, and homes. State Road 100 (SR 100) is a east–west highway serving northeast Florida. Its western terminus is at the Georgia-Florida border north of Avoca, Florida (its continuation in Georgia is State Route 11); its eastern terminus is an intersection with Shore Scenic Highway ( SR A1A) in Flagler Beach. Palatka-Lake Butler State Trail
The Palatka-Lake Butler State Trail (PLB) corridor stretches nearly from the vicinity of Lake Butler, Union County, Florida, Lake Butler, Florida to Palatka, Florida.
