Estonian Naturalists' Society
Estonian Naturalists' Society ( et, Eesti Looduseuurijate Selts, ELUS) is the oldest Estonia-based society of naturalists. It was founded in 1853, and since establishing has been the major scientific organisation focusing on natural history of Estonia. The Society is based in Tartu. It has been associated with Tartu University and the Estonian Academy of Sciences. The society still operates (2018) and claims to be the oldest scientific society in the Baltic states.History

Erast Parmasto
Erast Parmasto (28 October 1928 – 24 April 2012) was a noted Estonian mycologist, bioscientist and botanist and onetime director of the Estonian Institute of Zoology and Botany. Parmasto was born in Nõmme. He became a member of the Estonian Institute of Zoology and Botany in 1950 and served as its director from 1985 to 1990. His establishment of a mushroom herbarium in 1950 has since seen recognition of 160,000 samples, 37,000 of which Parmasto himself collected. Parmasto published more than 150 papers and 200 articles during his academic career and his works are commonly used in popular scientific and academic journals in Estonia. His expertise in the field of mycology has resulted in him being nicknamed "Seenevana", or the "grand old man of mushrooms". As a mycologist, the field with which Parmasto was most associated, he was best known for his establishment and enhancement of databases for species of mushrooms within Estonia. Hans-Voldemar Trass
Hans-Voldemar Trass (2 May 1928 – 14 February 2017) was an Estonian ecologist and botanist. He was a member of the Estonian Academy of Sciences since 1975 and president of the Estonian Naturalists' Society from 1964 to 1973 and 1985 to 1991. In 1992, Trass was awarded the Acharius Medal by the International Association for Lichenology. Trass was married to Estonian actress Raine Loo. Harald Haberman
Harald Haberman (19 December 1904 Tallinn – 16 December 1986 Tartu) was an Estonian entomologist and politician. In 1932 Haberman graduated from University of Tartu in biology. From 1935 to 1937 he was the chief editor of the journal ''Eesti Loodus''. In 1940 he was assistant of the internal minister in Johannes Vares' cabinet. Haberman was the head of Estonian Institute of Zoology and Botany from 1947 to 1977 and was the chairman of Estonian Naturalists' Society from 1952 to1954. Karl Orviku
Karl Orviku (17 August 1903 Kohtla, Ida-Viru County – 7 March 1981 Tallinn) was an Estonian geologist. He specialized in quaternary geology. In 1930 he graduated from Tartu University with a master's degree in geology. Since 1926 he worked as the chair of geology at Tartu University. From 1954 to 1968 he was there the director. Since 1954 he was a member of the ESSR Academy of Sciences. From 1961 to 1965 he was a member of the executive committee of the International Union for Quaternary Research. Armin Öpik
Armin Aleksander Öpik (24 June 1898, in Kunda – 15 January 1983, in Canberra) was an Estonian paleontologist who spent the second half of his career (from 1948) at the Bureau of Mineral Resources in Australia. Teodor Lippmaa
Teodor Lippmaa (17 November 1892 in Riga – 27 January 1943 in Tartu) was a noted Estonian botanist. He was the president of the Estonian Naturalists' Society in 1939–1942. Paul Kogerman
Paul Nikolai Kogerman ( in Tallinn – 27 July 1951 in Tallinn) was an Estonian chemist and founder of modern research in oil shale. Paul Kogerman was born into a family of gas factory worker (and former sailor). He went to an elementary school in 1901–1904 and a town school in 1904–1908. After town school Kogerman earned a living by teaching in church manors near Tallinn. In 1913, he was graduated from the Alexander Gymnasium in Tallinn (Reval) as an extern. Starting in 1913, he studied at the University of Tartu, graduating from its Department of Chemistry in 1918. In the Estonian War of Independence he fought in a unit of Tallinn teachers. In 1919–1920 he got a state scholarship to study at the Imperial College London.
