Estonia competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea from 9 to 25 February 2018. Estonian 15-year old freestyle-skier Kelly Sildaru, the gold medal favorite for the women’s ski slopestyle, missed the games due to an injury. Speed skating at the Winter Olympics, Speed skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held at the Gangneung Oval in Gangneung, South Korea between 10 and 24 February 2018. Qualification A total quota of 180 athletes were allowed to compete at the Games (maximum 100 men and 80 women). Countries were assigned quotas based on the results of the entire 2017–18 ISU Speed Skating World Cup in the autumn of 2017. Each nation was permitted to enter a maximum of three athletes per gender for all events apart from the 5000m, 10,000m and mass start events, for which they could enter a maximum of two athletes per event. Kalev Ermits
Kalev Ermits (born 19 September 1992) is an Estonian former biathlete and cross-country skier. He competed for Estonia at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. He retired from Biathlon following the 2021-2022 season. After this he ran a half-marathon and began racing in cross-country skiing and was second in the 15 km freestyle race at the Estonian National Championships. In May 2022 he married Estonian biathlete Regina Oja. The International Biathlon Union (IBU; german: Internationale Biathlon-Union) is the international governing body of biathlon.
