George Esson
George Albert Esson (b. 30 March 1942, d. 13 July 2022) was Assistant Chief Constable of Grampian Police and Chief Constable of Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary (1989-1994). He was at the centre of major inquiries into the Piper Alpha disaster and the 1986 Chinook Helicopter Crash. He also headed the police investigation into the Lockerbie Bombing. He is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen. After retiring from the Police, he worked for Shell UK as a security and external affairs advisor and led their response to the Greenpeace protests at the decommissioning of the Brent Spar oil facility in the North Sea. Henry Esson Young
Henry Esson Young (February 24, 1862 – October 24, 1939) was a physician and political figure in British Columbia. Some sources list his birth year as 1867. He represented Atlin in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1903 to 1915 as a Conservative. He was born in English River, Quebec in 1862, the son of Reverend Alexander Young and Ellen (''née'' McBain), and was educated at Queen's University, McGill University, Toronto University and University of Pennsylvania. He then continued his post-graduate studies in England. Young moved to Atlin, British Columbia, where he practised medicine from 1901 to 1903. In 1904, he married Rosalind Watson. Young served in the provincial cabinet as Minister of Education and Provincial Secretary. He helped establish the University of British Columbia in 1908. John Esson
John Esson (November 6, 1800 – March 4, 1860) was a merchant and politician in Nova Scotia. He represented Halifax County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1851 to 1863 as a Reformer. He was president of the North British Society. Katja Esson is a German-American filmmaker based in Miami, Florida. She was born and raised in Germany. Her documentary ''Ferry Tales'' received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary (Short Subject) in 2004. She is the only female German filmmaker ever nominated for a documentary at the Academy Awards. Early life and education Esson was born Katja Kümmerle, in Hamburg, Germany. Thomas Louis Buvelot Esson (10 August 1878 – 27 November 1943) was an Australian poet, journalist, critic and playwright. He was a co-founder of the Pioneer Players. His second wife, Hilda Esson (nee Bull), had a career in theatre besides working as a doctor in the field of public health. Early life and education Esson was born on 10 August 1878 at Leith in Edinburgh, Scotland, but moved to Melbourne, Australia, when he was three, along with his widowed mother. She had siblings in Melbourne, including artist John Ford Paterson, and Esson was raised mostly by his aunts. He attended the University of Melbourne from 1896, but did not finish his arts degree. Rachel Esson
Rachel Margaret Esson (born 1965) is the National Librarian Te Pouhuaki of New Zealand. Before moving into that role in 2020, she served in several positions at the Victoria University of Wellington library and the National Library of New Zealand, including Director of Content Services. Esson also served as the president of LIANZA, New Zealand's national library association, from 2019 to 2020. Early life and education Esson was born in 1965 in Palmerston North. She spent much of her childhood in Palmerston North, where her father was a scientist studying cicadas at nearby research stations. Esson studied to become a physiotherapist as well as an economist before finding her place in librarianship. Ryan John Esson (born 19 March 1980) is a Scottish former professional football goalkeeper. He is currently a goalkeeping coach for Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Esson started his career in 2000, in the Scottish Premier League, as a goalkeeper for Aberdeen. He has also played for Shrewsbury Town and Hereford United. Career Aberdeen Esson started his career with his hometown club Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League, debuting on 14 May 2000 in the 5–1 win over Kilmarnock. Victoria Lucy Esson (born 6 March 1991) is a New Zealand association football goalkeeper, currently playing for Rangers and represents New Zealand at international level. Early life Esson started playing football at the age of 10 for Halswell United. At first a midfielder and later defender, she became a goalkeeper at the age of 17.
