Ernst Sonnemann (composer)
Ernst A. Sonnemann (April 29, 1858 – November 15, 1927) was an American politician and was in the fishing business. Born in Germany, Sonnemann emigrated with his parents to the United States in 1858 and settled in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He was in the fishing business until his retirement. Sonnemann served on the Sheboygan Common Council and was a Republican. From 1925 until his death in 1927, Sonnemann served in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Sheboygan () is a city in and the county seat of Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 49,929 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 118,034. The city is located on the western shore of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Sheboygan River, about north of Milwaukee and south of Green Bay. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive.
