Ernest Cushing Richardson
Ernest Cushing Richardson (February 9, 1860 – June 3, 1939) was an American librarian, theologian and scholar. Throughout his life Richardson strived to make advances in cataloging systems and increased access to necessary research materials in U.S. libraries. He was named one of the "100 Most Important Leaders ibrarianshad in the 20th Century" by ''American Libraries'' in 1999. Early life and education Richardson was born into a middle-class family in Woburn, Massachusetts. His father, James Cushing, and mother, Lydia Bartlett Taylor Richardson, were of English descent. As a child, Ernest has been described as athletic. He was most passionate about baseball, ice skating and hiking and continued to enjoy them throughout his life. Ernest Frank Richardson (1871–1952) was a Chief Constable of Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. He joined the Police Force in 1893Telegram To FR from Police Office Cheltenham 1893 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and rapidly achieved promotion to Chief Constable. He came from a family many of whom served in the police, and three family members served concurrently in the office of Chief Constable, at Salisbury, Hereford and Halifax. Ernie Richardson (curler)
Ernest M. Richardson, CM (born August 4, 1931) is a four-time Canadian and world curling champion. Richardson mainly curled with his brother and two cousins, until an injury forced him to replace one of his cousins. He was nicknamed "The King", and has been inducted into the World Curling Federation Hall of Fame, the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame. Playing career Richardson was the skip of the Regina-based team made up of his brother Garnet and cousins Arnold and Wes during the late 1950s and early 1960s. In 1963, Wes Richardson was suffering from back issues, and was replaced on the team by Mel Perry. The team was dominant on the Canadian curling scene during this time. Ernest William Richardson (8 March 1916 – 1977) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Birmingham and Swansea Town. Richardson was born in Bishop Burton in the East Riding of Yorkshire. He began his football career with nearby Leven before joining Birmingham in 1936, and made his debut in the First Division on 22 April 1936 in a 4–1 home win against Sheffield Wednesday.Matthews, p. 178.
