Ernest Aljančič
Ernest "Nestl" Aljančič (5 December 1916 – 19 November 2006) was a Slovenian ice hockey player and official. Aljančič was one of ice-hockey pioneers in Yugoslavia. As a member of SK Ilrija he participated in the first Yugoslavian ice-hockey game against Kamnik team. He continued to play after the Second World War in the renamed HK Ljubljana team. He also played for the Yugoslavia national ice hockey team in the first international match against Austria national ice hockey team, where Aljančič scored first Yugoslav international goal. As a part of the Yugoslavia national team he participated in the 1951 and 1955 World Ice Hockey Championships, scoring two goals. In 1957, after a 25-year ice-hockey career, Aljančič retired. He later worked as an official trying to popularise the sport in Slovenia, helped to build Hala Tivoli ice-hockey rink and organize the 1966 World Ice Hockey Championships in it. HDD Olimpija Ljubljana
Hokejsko drsalno društvo Olimpija Ljubljana, commonly referred to as HDD Olimpija or simply Olimpija, was a Slovenian professional ice hockey club from Ljubljana. They played their home games at the Tivoli Hall. Olimpija has won 13 Yugoslav championships and 15 Slovenian championships. They won ten consecutive titles between 1995 and 2004. History The club was founded in 1928 as SK Ilirija. It was the first club on the territory of Yugoslavia to play organized ice hockey under the Canadian rules. In the 2007–08 season, their first in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, they made it all the way to the Finals, but lost 4 games to 2 against EC Red Bull Salzburg. Siol.net is a Slovenian web media and the oldest news portal in Slovenia. It is owned and managed by TSmedia company that is itself owned by the Telekom Slovenije. The main contents cover daily politics, news, sports, technology, lifestyle, and motoring. Since 2020, Peter Jančič serves as the editor-in-chief. History Siol.net was established in 1996 by Telekom Slovenije. It was the first online news portal in Slovenia and has seen a number of visual changes over the years. Between 1999 and 2007, the portal was owned by Siol. In 2008 the ownership and management was taken over by Planet 9, which merged with the company Najdi on 1 April 2011. IIHF Hall Of Fame Inductees
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey.
