History A post office called Ernest was established in 1903, and remained in operation until 1973. Ernest was the first coal town founded by the Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Co. in Indiana County. When Adrian Iselin, the chief stockholder in the Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal & Iron Company, finished inspecting the new mine he officially changed the name from McKees Mills to Ernest, in honor of his son, who was born in 1876. Ernest Airlines (registered as ''Ernest S.p.A.'') was an Italian low-cost carrier, headquartered in Milan. The airline briefly operated a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft to over 20 destinations, mainly from its main base at Milan Malpensa Airport. Operations commenced in July 2016, but ceased in January 2020. History Founded on 16 October 2015 as ''Fly Ernest'', Ernest Airlines was granted an AOC and an Operating License as an Italian Air Carrier on 11 April 2017. The company commenced operations serving the Italian-Albanian market, and entered the Ukrainian market on 20 October 2017. Cyclone Ernest
Intense Tropical Cyclone Ernest was one of two intense tropical cyclones in the 2004–05 South-West Indian Ocean cyclone season. The eighth tropical disturbance of the season, Ernest formed from a persistent area of thunderstorms in the central Indian Ocean. It initially moved southwestward, intensifying into Tropical Storm Ernest on January 20 while moving into the Mozambique Channel. After hitting Mayotte, the storm quickly intensified to reach peak winds of 165 km/h (105 mph 10 minute winds) off the western coast of Madagascar. Ernest weakened slightly before striking the southwest portion of that country on January 23, producing widespread flooding and gusty winds. The next day the cyclone became extratropical before dissipating on January 25. On Mayotte, Ernest produced peak wind gusts of 98 km/h (61 mph). John Ernest
John Ernest (May 6, 1922 – July 21, 1994) was an American-born constructivist abstract artist. He was born in Philadelphia, in 1922. After living and working in Sweden and Paris from 1946 to 1951, he moved to London, England, where he lived and worked from 1951. As a mature student at Saint Martin's School of Art he came under the influence of Victor Pasmore and other proponents of constructivism. During the 1950s together with Anthony Hill, Kenneth Martin, Mary Martin, Stephen Gilbert and Gillian Wise he became a key member of the British constructivist (a.k.a. constructionist) art movement. Ernest created both reliefs and free standing constructions. Several of his works are held at Tate Britain, including the Moebius Strip sculpture. He designed both a tower and a large wall relief at the International Union of Architects congress, South Bank, London, 1961. Gerald James Ian Ernest (born 30 August 1954) is a Mauritian Anglican bishop. In 2001 he was consecrated as the 15th bishop of Mauritius. From 2006 to 2017 he was archbishop of the Province of the Indian Ocean. Since October 2019 he has been the Archbishop of Canterbury's Personal Representative to the Holy See and Director of the Anglican Centre in Rome.
