Erik Evju
Erik Evju is a Norwegian musician, playing dark neo-folk music under the name Weh. He recorded several demos between 2002 and 2006, all of which were compiled and eventually released on CD in 2011 via Soulseller Records as the double album ''Origins''. In 2005, following the death of Windir vocalist Terje "Valfar" Bakken, Evju was asked by Hvall (Windir/Vreid) if he would contribute a song to a planned tribute album for Valfar. Under the Weh name Evju recorded the song ''Likbør'' from Windir's first album ''Sóknardalr'' with Morten Hennum Nicolaysen producing. Most of these songs were in English, but some were in Evju's native Norwegian. Evju released his first full-length album ''En Natt Kom Doed'' in 2012, which featured more Norwegian-language songs than English ones. ''Ingenmannsland'' was released in December 2015. Neo-folk
Neofolk, also known as apocalyptic folk, is a form of experimental music blending elements of folk and industrial music, which emerged in punk rock circles in the 1980s. Neofolk may either be solely acoustic or combine acoustic folk instrumentation with various other sounds. History The term "neofolk" originates from esoteric music circles who started using the term in the late 20th century to describe music influenced by musicians such as Douglas Pearce (Death In June), Tony Wakeford (Sol Invictus) and David Tibet (Current 93). Anglo-American folk music with similar sounds and themes to neofolk existed as far back as the 1960s. Black Metal
Black metal is an extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Common traits include Tempo#Beats per minute, fast tempos, a Screaming (music)#Black metal, shrieking vocal style, heavily distorted Electric guitar, guitars played with tremolo picking, raw (Lo-fi music, lo-fi) recording, unconventional song structures, and an emphasis on atmosphere. Windir
Windir ("Warrior" in English) was a black metal band from Sogndal, Norway. The band was formed in 1994 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Terje "Valfar" Bakken, and released its debut album ''Sóknardalr'' in 1997. Windir combined black metal with Scandinavian folk music, folklore and mythology, and many of the band's lyrics are written in Sognamål. Windir produced four albums in their almost ten years of existence. The band broke up in March 2004 after frontman Valfar died of hypothermia after becoming caught in a blizzard on his way to his family's cabin in Norway. Following his death, the remaining band members went on to form a number of new bands including Vreid, Mistur, and Cor Scorpii. Most of the band's early albums featured lyrics written in frontman Valfar's native dialect, Sognamål. Vreid
Vreid is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 2004 after the breakup of Windir following the death of lead singer and founder Valfar. The remaining members along with new guitarist Ese formed Vreid. The band's name is an archaic Norwegian word meaning "Wrath". Biography Hváll formed a new band consisting of the three Windir members Hváll (bass), Steingrim (drums), Sture (vocals/guitar) and a new guitarist named Ese. Ese has been a close friend of the Vreid members for years, and he was co-engineer on Windir’s ''Likferd'' album. Hváll wrote most of the material for the debut album entitled '' Kraft''. The lyrics are in both Norwegian and English. ''Kraft'' was released by Tabu Records in 2004. Vreid’s second album, ''Pitch Black Brigade'', was also released by Tabu Records, on 27 March 2006.
