Eric Hughes (born April 30, 1965) is an American basketball coach currently working as an assistant for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). College coaching career Hughes got his first gig with the Illinois State Redbirds as an assistant coach from 1989 until he was hired as an assistant coach for the California Golden Bears in 1991 to 1993. Washington Huskies then hired him as an assistant for nine years after that. NBA coaching career Toronto Raptors Raptors gave Hughes his first gig in the NBA in the front office as a Basketball Development Consultant in 2007 until the Raptors decided to put him on their coaching bench in 2009. Eric Hughes is an American mathematician, computer programmer, and cypherpunk. He is considered one of the founders of the cypherpunk movement, alongside, Timothy C. May and John Gilmore. He is notable for founding and administering the Cypherpunk mailing list, authoring ''A Cypherpunk's Manifesto,'' creating and hosting the first anonymous remailer, and coining the motto, "Cypherpunks write code". The May/June 1993 issue of ''Wired'' featured a cover photo of three masked cypherpunks, of which Hughes was one. Eric Hughes (born 17 October 1950) is a retired English rugby union and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and coached rugby league in the 1980s and 1990s. Eric Hughes (rugby League, Born 1913)
Eric Hughes (20 January 1913 – 15 August 2012) was an Australian rugby league footballer from the 1930s. Born and raised in Ipswich, Queensland, Eric Hughes was a 22 year old miner from Mount Isa who travelled over 2000 miles at his own expense costing him £300, to trial with the St. George Dragons in 1936. He left a job at the mines where he earned 2 pounds a day in wages. He came to Sydney with his friend Jack Stathers who also trialled with St. George. During his years in Ipswich, Eric Hughes was trained and mentored by two lengedary players Jim Craig and Dan Dempsey. He lived in Sydney with the patron of the St. George club, Jack McGrath. Hughes suffered injuries due to a motorcycle accident late in 1936.
