''Eremogone ursina'' is a species of flowering plant in the family Caryophyllaceae known by the common name Bear Valley sandwort. Distribution It is endemic to San Bernardino County, California, where it is known from a few occurrences in the vicinity of Big Bear. Sugarloaf is an unincorporated community residential area less than a mile south of Big Bear City and 8 miles from the eastern tip of Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains of San Bernardino County, California. Fawnskin, California
Fawnskin is an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Its altitude is 6,827 feet (2,081 m). The community has a post office, which was established on May 18, 1918. History The small township was once an artists' colony, which attracted artisans, musicians, composers and actors from the Los Angeles area. Mountain travelers in the 19th century came to the Big Bear Valley through Fawnskin on the rough road by stagecoach and later motorcars. Several other names were temporarily chosen for the North Shore village including Bald Eagle Valley, Big Bear Village, Cline-Miller, Grout, and Oso Grande. Benjamin Lincoln Robinson (November 8, 1864 – July 27, 1935) was an American botanist. Biography Robinson was born on November 8, 1864, in Bloomington, Illinois. In 1887, he received an A.B. from Harvard. He married Margaret Louise Casson on June 29, 1887, and couple traveled to Europe. He studied plant anatomy with H. Solms-Laubach and completed his Dr.phil. at University of Strasbourg in 1889. They returned to the United States in the fall of 1890. Most of his career was Gray Herbarium curator and he died at his summer home in Jaffrey, New Hampshire on July 27, 1935. San Bernardino Mountains
The San Bernardino Mountains are a high and rugged mountain range in Southern California in the United States.
