Equestrian At The 2023 Pan American Games
Equestrian competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games are scheduled to be held from October 22 to November 3. The venue for the competition is the ''Escuela de equitación regimiento granaderos'' in Quillota, Chile. A total of 150 athletes are scheduled to compete in the three disciplines of dressage, eventing and jumping, each with an individual and team event. All three disciplines will serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Qualification A quota of up to 150 equestrian riders (44 dressage, 46 eventing and 60 show jumping) will be allowed to qualify. A maximum of 12 athletes can compete for a nation across all events (with a maximum of four per discipline). Athletes qualified through various qualifying events and rankings. Participating nations A total of 19 countries qualified equestrians. Márcio Carvalho Jorge (born 28 January 1975 in Colina, São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian Olympic eventing rider. He competed at two Summer Olympics (in 2012 and 2016). He finished 7th in team eventing in 2016. Meanwhile, his best individual Olympic placement is 25th place from the same Games. Jorge also participated at two Pan American Games (in 2011 and 2015). Caroline Pamukcu (neé Martin; born December 8, 1994) is an American equestrian competing in the discipline of three-day eventing. She is a Pan American Games individual gold medalist and silver team medalist. Biography Pamukcu, daughter of Sherrie and Randy Martin, started her riding career when she was six. Although it took her some time to get serious, the Martin family bought a farm in Riegelsville, Pennsylvania in 2002 called Buckwampum Farm. She stepped away from horses during her first year of high school and moved with her parents while her father was working in Nicaragua. She quickly realized what life would be like without horses, and by age fifteen, was all in. Buck Davidson Jr. was invited by the Martins to base his business out of Buckwampum Farm and become Pamukcu's coach. Paulo César dos Santos (6 September 1952 – 14 December 2020), better known as Paulinho, was a Brazilian singer and percussionist, member of the group Roupa Nova. He died at the age of 68, from multiple organ failure after a cardiopulmonary arrest aggravated by COVID-19. Career Paulinho was born on 6 September 1952 in the city of Rio de Janeiro. In the early 1970s, Paulinho was a vocalist and percussionist for a Rio dance band called Los Panchos Villa, alongside Kiko and Feghali, his future companions in Roupa Nova.
