Equestrian At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Team Eventing
The team eventing in equestrian at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held at National Equestrian Center from 6 to 9 August. The French team of Karim Laghouag, Thibaut Vallette, Mathieu Lemoine and Astier Nicolas won the gold medal. Germany won the silver medal and Australia took bronze. Competition format The team and individual eventing competitions used the same scores. Eventing consisted of a dressage test, a cross-country test, and a jumping test. The jumping test had two rounds, with only the first used for the team competition. Team eventing final scores were the sum of the three best overall individual scores (adding the three components) from the four-pair teams. Mark Kyle (born 5 June 1973) is an Irish Olympic eventing rider. Representing Ireland, he competed at three Summer Olympics (in 2004, 2012 and 2016). He placed 5th in team eventing in 2012. Jonty Evans (born 4 October 1971) is an Irish eventing rider. Personal life Evans grew up near Trefriw, in the Conwy valley in North Wales. He is married with two children and lived near Cheltenham in the Cotswolds, where he had a yard. He now lives near Broadway in Worcestershire. Philippa Rachel "Pippa" Funnell MBE (née Nolan, 7 October 1968) is an equestrian sportswoman who competes in eventing.
