Egalitarianism
Egalitarianism (), or equalitarianism, is a school of thought within political philosophy that builds from the concept of social equality, prioritizing it for all people. Egalitarian doctrines are generally characterized by the idea that all humans are equal in fundamental worth or moral status. Egalitarianism is the doctrine that all citizens of a state should be accorded exactly equal rights. Egalitarian doctrines have motivated many modern social movements and ideas, including the Enlightenment, feminism, civil rights, and international human rights. The term ''egalitarianism'' has two distinct definitions in modern English, either as a political doctrine that all people should be treated as equals and have the same political, economic, social and civil rights, or as a social philosophy advocating the removal of economic inequalities among people, economic egalitarianism, or the decentralization of power. Sources define egalitarianism as equality reflecting the natural st ...

Logical Equality
Logical equality is a logical operator that corresponds to equality in Boolean algebra and to the logical biconditional in propositional calculus. It gives the functional value ''true'' if both functional arguments have the same logical value, and '' false'' if they are different. It is customary practice in various applications, if not always technically precise, to indicate the operation of logical equality on the logical operands ''x'' and ''y'' by any of the following forms: :\begin x &\leftrightarrow y & x &\Leftrightarrow y & \mathrm Exy \\ x &\mathrm y & x &= y \end Some logicians, however, draw a firm distinction between a ''functional form'', like those in the left column, which they interpret as an application of a function to a pair of arguments — and thus a mere indication that the value of the compound expression depends on the values of the component expressions — and an ''equational form'', like those in the right column, which they interpret as an as ...

Equality (novel)
''Equality'' is a utopian novel by Edward Bellamy, and the sequel to ''Looking Backward: 2000–1887.'' It was first published in 1897. The book contains a minimal amount of plot; Bellamy primarily used ''Equality'' to expand on the theories he first explored in ''Looking Backward''. The text is now in the public domain and available for free. Synopsis The story takes up immediately after the events of ''Looking Backward'' with the main characters from the first novel, Julian West, Doctor Leete, and his daughter Edith. West tells his nightmare of return to the 19th century to Edith, who is sympathetic. West's citizenship in the new America is recognized, and he goes to the bank to obtain his own account, or "credit card," from which he can draw his equal share of the national product. He learns that Edith and her mother do not normally wear the long skirts he has seen them in (they had been wearing them so as not to offend his 19th century sensibilities): when Julian tells Ed ...

Equality (film)
''Equality'' is a short film by American filmmaker, Al Sutton, MD, a documentary under the genre of human rights, social issues, history and news. The film contains rare footage of the Women's Strike for Equality, the gender equality protest of August 26, 1970, where more than fifty thousand women and men gathered in New York City to show support for the feminist movement and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution which gave women the right to vote. It was organized by NOW, the National Organization for Women. While it depicts a positive energy and excitement of the crowds at the 1970 women's march and rally, the film makes the statement that in spite of various attempts to codify equality, for example, the UN General Assembly Bill of Rights of 1979, the statistics related to gender inequality show that areas such as education, earnings, poverty and abuses still need effective change. This short film, EQUALITY, released in 201 ...

Equality Colony
Equality Colony was a United States socialist colony founded in Skagit County, Washington (U.S. state), Washington by a political organization known as the Brotherhood of the Cooperative Commonwealth in 1897. It was meant to serve as a model which would convert the rest of Washington and later the entire continent to socialism. Brotherhood of the Cooperative Commonwealth Origins The colony's origins lay in ideas of New England reformers in the mid-1890s. Norman Wallace Lermond, a journalist and farmer in Warren, Maine, and Ed Pelton had been intrigued by an idea originally suggested by Socialist Labor Party member F.G.R. Gordon that a series of socialist colonies be established in a single western state. (Gordan suggested Texas.) Lermond and Pelton started a vigorous letter-writing campaign to notable reformers such as Henry Demarest Lloyd advocating the plan and suggesting that the socialist colonists would be able to initiate the collective ownership of the means of product ...
