Episcopal Intercession
Episcopal Intercession is the right of a church official to intercede on behalf of a criminal. It was granted by the secular power to the bishops of the Early Church. This right originated in the respect for the church in the early centuries of Christianity, rather than in a law or decree. Reference to its existence is made in the seventh canon of the Council of Sardica. It is also mentioned by St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and by Socrates in his "Church History". St. Augustine repeatedly interceded for criminals with Macedonius, then governor of Africa. Martin of Tours interceded with Emperor Maximus for the imprisoned Priscillianists in 384-5. Bishop Flavian of Antioch interceded with Emperor Theodosius I in 387 on behalf of the inhabitants of Antioch, who had wantonly destroyed the imperial statues in that city. Saint Ambrose
Ambrose of Milan ( la, Aurelius Ambrosius; ), venerated as Saint Ambrose, ; lmo, Sant Ambroeus . was a theologian and statesman who served as Bishop of Milan from 374 to 397. He expressed himself prominently as a public figure, fiercely promoting the Christian faith against Arianism and paganism. Synod Of Mâcon
There have been several synods of Mâcon, provincial church councils held in the city of Mâcon, then the seat of a diocese. The second and third councils were both convoked by the Burgundian king Guntram. The third is associated with a legendary debate on women's souls. First council The first synod was held in 579. Second council The second council was held in 581 or 582. Unusually, one of the 19 canons it produced addressed a specific individual – a nun named ''Agnes''. The 14th canon imposed a curfew against Jews, banning them from the streets at all times between Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday. The 2nd canon prohibits Jews from talking to nuns. The Councils of Carthage were church synods held during the 3rd, 4th, and 5th centuries in the city of Early centers of Christianity#Carthage, Carthage in Africa. Empress Pulcheria
Aelia Pulcheria (; grc-gre, Πουλχερία; 19 January 398 or 399 – July 453) was an Eastern Roman empress who advised her brother emperor Theodosius II during his minority and then became wife to emperor Marcian from November 450 to her death in 453. She was the second (and oldest surviving) child of Eastern Roman Emperor Arcadius and Empress Aelia Eudoxia. In 414, the fifteen-year old Pulcheria became the guardian of her younger brother Theodosius II and was also proclaimed Augusta. Through her religious devotion and involvement in the contemporary ecclesiastical scene, Pulcheria had significant, though changing, influence and political power during her brother's reign. When Theodosius II died on 26 July 450, Pulcheria married Marcian on 25 November 450, while simultaneously not violating her vow of virginity. She died three years later, in July 453. Western Empire

In Christian theology, charity (Latin: ''caritas'') is considered one of the seven virtues and is understood by Thomas Aquinas as "the friendship of man for God", which "unites us to God".
