After building a reputation strictly through promotion on the social networking website MySpace, the band released its debut self-titled EP in 2006 and their first full-length album '' My Dear'' in 2007. Six years after their initial debut, '' Victim to Villain'' was finally released, followed by '' Malevolence'' in 2015. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Gothic Metal
Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. The music of gothic metal is diverse with bands known to adopt the gothic approach to different styles of heavy metal music. The genre originated during the early 1990s in the United Kingdom originally as an outgrowth of death-doom, a fusion of death metal and doom metal. ''Victim to Villain'' is the second full-length album by American rock band New Years Day, released on June 11, 2013, through Century Media Records, their first and only for the label. This is the first official full-length from New Years Day in six years. This album continues the departure from the pop-punk sound of the band's first album, into a darker, heavier sound that began with the preceding EP, '' The Mechanical Heart''. The first single from the album, "Do Your Worst" was released in January 2013 with a lyric video featuring Ashley in a grave, followed by "I'm No Good" on May 6, 2013, also with a lyric video with scenes of all the band members. ''Malevolence'' is the third full-length album by American rock band New Years Day, released on October 2, 2015 through Another Century Records. The album debuted at No. 8 on ''Billboards Top Rock Albums chart, selling 19,000 copies in its first week. On August 11, 2015, the band announced their first headlining tour in support of the album, "The Other Side Tour" with opening acts Eyes Set to Kill, Get Scared, and New Volume.
