''Epic'' is the second studio album by American singer–songwriter Sharon Van Etten. The album was released on September 21, 2010. ''Epic'' was recorded and mixed over 11 days in Philadelphia between May 28, 2010 and June 6, 2010 at Miner Street Recordings with producer Brian McTear. The album features guest performances by singers Cat Martino and Meg Baird; Jessica Larrabee and Andy LaPlant of the band She Keeps Bees; and David Hartley of The War on Drugs and the band Nightlands. Sharon Katharine Van Etten (born February 26, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter. She has released six studio albums, the latest of which is '' We've Been Going About This All Wrong'' (2022). Early life Van Etten was born in Belleville, New Jersey, the middle child of five. She lived in Nutley, New Jersey, then moved to Clinton, New Jersey as a pre-teen. She attended North Hunterdon High School, at which she participated in the chorus and performed in stage musicals. Later, she moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to attend Middle Tennessee State University and studied recording, but dropped out after a year. She Keeps Bees is a rock and roll band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2006 and consisting of Jessica Larrabee on vocals and guitar and Andy LaPlant on drums. They have been compared to Patti Smith, the White Stripes, The Kills, PJ Harvey, and Cat Power.
