Enver Baig
Mohammad Enver Baig (Urdu: محمد انور بیگ) is a Pakistani politician and former member of the Senate of Pakistan. He was affiliated politically with the Pakistan Peoples Party until 2012 before joining the Pakistan Muslim League (N). He served as chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme from 2013 to 2014. Political career Baig served as a member of the Senate of Pakistan on the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) ticket from 2003 to 2009. In 2012, he joined the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) after PPP suspended his party membership due to alleged party discipline violation. Baig was appointed chairman of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) by President Mamnoon Hussain in November 2012 on the Prime Minister's advice. He resigned from this post a year later, in November 2014, and was appointed chairman of Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), a lesser position than BISP Chairman. Benazir Income Support Programme
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is a federal unconditional cash transfer poverty reduction program in Pakistan. Launched in July 2008, it was the largest single social safety net program in the country with nearly Rs. 90 billion ($900 million) distributed to 5.4 million beneficiaries in 2016. The program distributed Rs.19,338 (or approx. $195) per annum distributed per month in the year 2016. The stipend is linked to the Consumer price index, Consumer Price Index and is paid through a smart card. The Department for International Development of the Government of the United Kingdom, United Kingdom is the largest foreign backer of the program, providing $244 million (or 27%) of the total funds in 2016 with the Government of Pakistan, Pakistani Government providing the rest. Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi ( ur, ; 26 July 1942 – 9 July 2022) was a Pakistani soldier and a politician (a member of the Senate of Pakistan from 2003 to 2006). Military career Tahir Mashhadi joined the Pakistan Army in 1970 during the war with India and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1971, graduating from the Pakistan Military Academy. During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, Mashhadi was stationed in then East Pakistan, which saw some heavy air attacks. At the end of war, Mashhadi was taken as a prisoner of war and repatriated in 1974. Nasim Ashraf ( ur, نسيم أشرف) is a Pakistani-American social worker, physician, and former cricketer who had been the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board between 2006 and 2008. He was also the Chairman of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), and a Minister of State for six years. Early life and education Ashraf was born to a Pashtun family.
