''Enter Madame'' is a 1922 American silent romantic comedy film produced by Harry Garson for his star Clara Kimball Young. Wallace Worsley directed. The film was based on a 1920 Broadway play of the same name by Dolly Byrne and Gilda Varesi. Prints of the film exist in two or three European archives. The film was remade under the same name in 1935. Wallace Worsley
Wallace A. Worsley, Sr. (December 8, 1878 – March 26, 1944) was an American stage actor who became a film director in the silent era. During his career, Worsley directed 29 films and acted in 7 films. He directed several motion pictures starring Lon Chaney Sr., and his professional relationship with the actor was the best Chaney had, second to his partnership with Tod Browning. ''The Hunchback of Notre Dame'' (1923) is one of his best-known works, along with '' The Penalty'' (1920). Worsley's 1922 horror film ''A Blind Bargain'' with Chaney is one of the most sought after lost films. Acting In April 1901 Worsely appeared at the Empire Theatre (41st Street) as Lt. George Kuwa
George Kuwa (born Keichii Kuwahara) was a Japanese and American Issei (Japanese immigrant) film actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1916 and 1931. He was the first actor to portray Charlie Chan on-screen in the 1926 film serial ''The House Without a Key''.Hanke (1989), xii. Biography According to contemporaneous reports, Kuwa was born in Hiroshima, Japan. His father was a judge and wanted George to follow suit. Kuwa moved to the U.S. around 1916 or 1917 and began a career in Hollywood. Like many Japanese actors of the era, he often played Chinese characters. He made several films in Japan as well before returning to the U.S.; he died in Los Angeles in 1931 at the age of 46. Rosita Marstini (September 19, 1887 – April 24, 1948) was a French dancer, stage personality, and silent and sound film actress from Nancy, France. Early life Rosita Marstini was born on September 19, 1887, in Nancy, France. She married Belgian actor and director Paul Sablon (1888-1940) before she came with him to the United States in 1913. Theatrical work in California She began making movies for Universal Pictures in 1913 with her first feature being Herbert Blaché's ''A Prisoner in the Harem'', sharing the limelight with her husband (known in the United States as Paul Bourgeois). Lionel Belmore (12 May 1867 – 30 January 1953) was an English character actor and director on stage for more than a quarter of a century. Life and career Onstage, Belmore appeared with Wilson Barrett, Sir Henry Irving, William Faversham, Lily Langtry, and other famous actors. He entered in films from 1911. In total, he had some 200 titles to his film credit. He was notable as the huffy-puffy Herr Vogel the Burgomaster in ''Frankenstein'' (1931). Belmore played bit parts in several 1930s film classics.
