Adolf Engström
Carl Adolf Engström (17 February 1855 – 19 June 1924) was a Finnish engineer, businessman and vuorineuvos. Engström got familiar already at early age with large machinery and engineering workshop environment due to his stepfather's work as engineer in the Finnish State Railways. After completing his mechanical engineering studies in Helsinki Polytechnic School in 1877, Engström went to gain experience abroad in Sweden, Germany, United Kingdom and United States. Upon his return in 1884, Engström got vacance in the State Railways. He took successfully part in steam locomotive designing, which was followed by railway projects in Savonia and Karelia. He worked as director for stone company Ab Granit in 1889–1895, after which he returned to State Railways for another five years. Engström was appointed manager of Hietalahti Shipyard and Engineering Works in 1900. Eric Engstrom (January 25, 1965December 1, 2020) was an American software engineer. While working at Microsoft, Engstrom alongside Alex St. John and Craig Eisler was responsible for the development of DirectX, an application programming interface for Microsoft Windows that paved the way for Windows to be a viable gaming platform as well as leading into the development of the Xbox line of video game consoles. Early life Engstrom was born in 1965 in Oroville, Washington. He attended but did not complete a degree at Washington State University. While working a number of odd jobs after leaving college, he taught himself computer programming. Elmer William Engstrom (August 25, 1901 – October 30, 1984) was an American electrical engineer and corporate executive prominent for his role in the development of television. Biography Youth and early career Engstrom was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1901 as son of Emil Engstrom, a power plant engineer, and Anna (Nelson) Engstrom. After attending the Mechanical Arte High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he obtained his BSc in Electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota in 1923. After graduation, in 1923, Engstrom worked at the General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York, on radio technology and sound devices for motion pictures. Dale Engstrom (April 15, 1917 – January 22, 2018) was an American businessman, United States Army officer and politician. Engstrom went to the University of Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Maryland. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1961 during World War II and the Korean War. Tomas Engström (born 18 January 1964) is a Swedish auto racing driver. He is married with four children. In the 1990s he dominated the Swedish Camaro Cup, winning five back-to-back titles between 1994 and 1998. Since then he has mainly competed in touring cars, driving in the Swedish Touring Car Championship since 1999, when he entered an independent Chrysler Stratus. After this he managed and drove for the Honda Racing Team in a Honda Accord, with his best season for the team coming in 2003, when he finished third overall.
