English Women's Cricket Team In Sri Lanka In 2018–19
The England women's cricket team toured Sri Lanka to play the Sri Lanka women's national cricket team in March 2019. The tour consisted of three Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs), which formed part of the 2017–20 ICC Women's Championship, and three Women's Twenty20 International (WT20) matches. England Women won the WODI series 3–0. The series defeat meant that Sri Lanka Women could no longer qualify directly for the 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup, progressing to the 2020 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament instead. England Women also won the WT20I series 3–0. Squads Sophie Ecclestone was ruled out of England's squad, after suffering a broken hand during the English women's cricket team in India in 2018–19, WODI series against India in February 2019. Atapattu Mudiyanselage Chamari Jayangani (born 9 February 1990, also known as Chamari Athapaththu) is a Sri Lankan cricketer and the current captain of the women's Twenty20 International team of Sri Lanka. She had a short stint as the captain of the Sri Lanka women's team, and was succeeded by the previous captain Shashikala Siriwardene. Chamari was the tenth captain for Sri Lanka women's national cricket team, winning only one ODI, with 13 losses. In November 2017, she was named the Women's Cricketer of the Year for the 2016–17 season at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards. She is the first Sri Lankan woman to play in franchise cricket. International career She is known for aggressive batting in the top order.
