English Cricket Team In Zimbabwe In 2001–02
The England cricket team toured Zimbabwe from 1 October to 13 October 2001 for a five-match One Day International (ODI) series, with three matches in Harare and two in Bulawayo. England won all five matches. Squads On 28 August 2001, England named an initial 16-man squad for the tour, including three uncapped players: wicket-keeper James Foster, and bowlers James Kirtley and Jeremy Snape. Nasser Hussain
Nasser Hussain (born 28 March 1968) is a British cricket commentator and former cricketer who captained the England cricket team between 1999 and 2003, with his overall international career extending from 1990 to 2004. A pugnacious right-handed batsman, Hussain scored over 30,000 runs from more than 650 matches across all first-class and List-A cricket, including 62 centuries. His highest Test score of 207, scored in the first Test of the 1997 Ashes at Edgbaston, was described by ''Wisden'' as "touched by genius". Patellar Tendinitis
Patellar tendinitis, also known as jumper's knee, is an overuse injury of the tendon that straightens the knee. Symptoms include pain in the front of the knee. Typically the pain and tenderness is at the lower part of the kneecap, though the upper part may also be affected. Generally there is no pain when the person is at rest. Complications may include patellar tendon rupture. Risk factors include being involved in athletics and being overweight. It is particularly common in athletes who are involved in jumping sports such as basketball and volleyball. The underlying mechanism involves small tears in the tendon connecting the kneecap with the shinbone. Diagnosis is generally based on symptoms and examination. Henry Khaaba Olonga (born 3 July 1976) is a Zimbabwean former cricketer, who played Test cricket, Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket for Zimbabwe national cricket team, Zimbabwe. In domestic first-class cricket in Zimbabwe, Olonga played for Matabeleland cricket team, Matabeleland, Mashonaland cricket team, Mashonaland and Manicaland cricket team, Manicaland. Mluleki Nkala
Mluleki Luke Nkala (born 1 April 1981) is a Zimbabwean international cricketer. He took the wicket of Sachin Tendulkar with his second ball in senior international cricket in 1999. He also took five wickets against England in a test match in Nottingham in 2000. Douglas Hondo
Douglas Tafadzwa Hondo (born 7 July 1979) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer, who played nine Test matches and 56 One Day Internationals as a right-arm medium-fast swing bowler, and is distinctive for his dreadlocks. Early career Hondo was first introduced to cricket at primary school, his elder brother being the first in the family to take up the game. Hondo and his brother were under the guidance of Peter Sharples, a pioneer of taking cricket into the townships, or "high-density suburbs" as they are known in Zimbabwe. He coached the Queensdale Primary School team which consisted mainly of players who had no family background in the game due to the Rhodesian racist policies. Travis Friend
Travis John Friend (born 7 January 1981) is a former Zimbabwean international cricketer and commercial pilot. During his short international career. he made sporadic appearances for Zimbabwe having played only 13 test matches and 51 ODI matches. His career was cut short as his international career barely lasted for five years due to his fitness issues often being vulnerable to intermittent injuries and he could not quite nail or cement a permanent spot in the playing XI while also his involvement in contract dispute with Zimbabwe Cricket at an early age of 24 did not help the cause either. The wicket-keeper in the sport of cricket is the player on the fielding side who stands behind the wicket or stumps being watchful of the batsman and ready to take a catch, stump the batsman out and run out a batsman when occasion arises. Sean Ervine
Sean Michael Ervine (born 6 December 1982) is a Zimbabwean former cricketer. Ervine played as an all-rounder who batted left-handed and bowled right-arm medium pace. Ervine was born at Harare in Zimbabwe and played for his country in the 2003 Cricket World Cup but became one of the cricketers who rebelled against the Zimbabwe Cricket Union, and left the country in May 2004 for a new life in Australia. Dion Digby Ebrahim (born 7 August 1980) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer, who played Tests and ODIs. He now lives in New Zealand where he works as a cricket coach. Stuart Vance Carlisle (born 10 May 1972) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer who played 37 Test matches and 111 One Day Internationals for Zimbabwe. Gary Brent
Gary Bazil Brent (born 13 January 1976) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer. Brent is an inswinging bowler, with a good slow-arm bowling technique. Having missed the cut for the 2003 Cricket World Cup, he made the squad for the 2003/04 tour in Australia. Brent was one of the fifteen "rebel" players who were dismissed in 2004 due to a dispute with the Zimbabwean Cricket Board. Brent was a surprise call-up during the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy, replacing the injured Terrence Duffin. He played just the one match, but proved useful, taking 1/28 from seven overs, and adding ten with the bat as part of the Zimbabwean total of 130.
