Engineer's Building Strike And Massacre
On 31 October 2023, the Israeli Defense Forces struck a residential building in the Gaza Strip during its operations in Gaza in the Israel–Hamas war, killing at least 106 people, including 54 children. Human Rights Watch said there was no evidence of any military targets in the area at the time of the attack, making the strike an apparent war crime. The incident was not public knowledge until April 2024. Airstrike On 31 October 2023, at about 2:30 pm, four aerial munitions struck the residential building known as the Engineer's Building within about 10 seconds of each other resulting in its total destruction. At the time, at least 350 people were sheltering at the building, at least 150 of whom were seeking shelter after being forced to flee their homes from other parts of Gaza due to Israeli attacks. Nuseirat
Nuseirat ( ar, مخيّم النصيرات) is a Palestinian refugee camp located five kilometers north-east of Deir al-Balah. The refugee camp is in the Deir al-Balah Governorate, Gaza Strip. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the Refugee Camp had a population of 64,423 in mid-year 2006. The Nuseirat camp was named after the local Nuseirat tribe, part of the larger Hanajira confederation, that historically dominated the area between Deir al-Balah and Gaza. Most refugees came from the southern areas of Palestine (region), Palestine such as Beersheba and the coastal plain. On October 31, 2023, Israel bombed the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip – an event that was called the Jabalia camp massacre in the Muslim world. The airstrike, which came amidst the Israeli invasion of Gaza, killed more than 120 people, mostly women and children, and was widely condemned. It is also considered one of the war crimes in the Israel–Hamas war. The Jabalia refugee camp is very densely populated, and despite an evacuation order, social media videos showed that many civilians remained in the camp.
