Enfield Town Railway Station
Enfield Town is one of three northern termini of the Lea Valley lines on the London Overground network in England. It is the most central of several stations in the London Borough of Enfield, north London. It is down the line from London Liverpool Street, the southern terminus. Its three-letter station code is ENF and it is in Travelcard zone 5. In 2015 the line and Enfield Town station were transferred from Abellio Greater Anglia operation to London Overground and added to the Tube map. History The station was opened on 1 March 1849 by the Eastern Counties Railways as Enfield. It was renamed Enfield Town on 1 April 1886. A house which had stood on the site since the late 17th century is said to have been the birthplace of Isaac D'Israeli, father of Benjamin Disraeli. It later became a school, at which John Keats was educated. It then became the original station-house before being demolished in 1872. Enfield Chase railway station is located in Windmill Hill, Enfield, in the London Borough of Enfield, north London, from on the Hertford Loop Line. It is in Travelcard Zone 5. History The original terminus The original Enfield Station in Windmill Hill opened on 1 April 1871 as the terminus for the Great Northern Railway branch line from Alexandra Palace. By 1887, 37 trains a day left Enfield, mainly for King's Cross, but also to Broad Street and until 1907, to Woolwich and Victoria. The station building was a two-storey twin-gabled house, similar in style to the single-storey building at Palmers Green. It was sited lengthways across the end of the track. The single island platform was covered by a wide canopy for much of its length. Enfield Station had been intended to bring prosperous middle-class commuters to the area. Enfield railway station (Irish: Stáisiún traenach Bhóthar Buí) serves the town of Enfield in County Meath, Ireland. It is a station on the Dublin Connolly to Longford commuter service and Dublin to Sligo Intercity Service. Passengers change at Maynooth to travel to stations on the Dublin to Maynooth and Dublin to M3 Parkway commuter services. Description A water tower exists at the Mullingar end of the station, which is now disused. There is also a passing loop. Although no stations now exist between here and Mullingar, a passing loop remains in use at Killucan, between Enfield and Mullingar. Within Enfield railway station, there are two Porter's Houses, owned by Cravens and McDonalds. The two houses are owned by the families and leased to C.I.E. Enfield station is a planned CT''rail'' Hartford Line station in Enfield, Connecticut. , construction is expected to begin in early 2024. A previous station at the site was open from 1844 to 1986. History Amtrak The Hartford and New Haven Railroad (H&NH) opened from Hartford to Springfield in December 1844. Thompsonville station, located on the east side of the tracks just north of Main Street, opened with the line. It was replaced by a two-story brick station around 1870, with a wooden addition for the Railway Express Agency built later on the north end of the structure. In 1946, the second story - then rented out as apartments - and the wooden addition were removed. The modified station building was used until 1971, when Penn Central closed it shortly before Amtrak took over passenger service.
