Emmanuel Church (Killingworth, Connecticut)
Emmanuel Episcopal Church is an historic church building at 50 Emmanuel Church Road in Killingworth, Connecticut, United States. History The church society was organized in the mid-eighteenth century and known as the Episcopalian Society of North Bristol (now North Madison) and North Killingworth. In 1800, the society was organized as a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut. The society erected the present church in 1803 and it was called Union Church after 1805. The church, located off Route 148, was organized on July 10, 1800, by 19 residents of North Madison (then North Bristol, named after the Bristol family who were founding members of the church) and two residents of Killingworth. The church building was completed and formally consecrated by Bishop Hobart of New York in 1817. The first part-time pastor, Nathan Bennett Burgess, was hired in 1801. The church was slightly enlarged and formally renamed Emmanuel Church, which is Latin for "God is with us", in 1869. ...

The Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Rapid City, South Dakota is an historic Gothic Revival sandstone Episcopal church located at 717 Quincy Street. In 1975, Emmanuel Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It was built during 1887–88. It is a one-story cross-gabled building. With . History Emmanuel Episcopal Church is the only downtown Rapid City church still in its original building. A small group began holding services in Rapid City in 1887, under the leadership of George G. Ware, a lay reader who was later ordained and became the first rector. The cornerstone of the original sandstone church was laid November 10, 1887, and the first services were held in the new building in 1888. The Emmanuel Church at Brook Hill, in the historic community of Brook Hill in Henrico County, Virginia, is a historic Episcopal church. History Brothers John and Daniel Kerr Stewart, both born on the Island of Bute in Scotland, emigrated and established a farm at Brook Hill. Although they had been members of Monumental Church and then St. Paul's Church, both in downtown Richmond, Virginia, their property was on the city's outskirts. The early Brook turnpike between Richmond and Dabney Williamson's Tavern had become a major thoroughfare during the American Revolution. Between 1859 and 1860, the Stewart brothers supported creation of a new parish near their farm, which was organized in 1860. Bishop John Johns consecrated the building on July 6, 1860. Emmanuel Episcopal Church is an Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia in the city's North Ridge neighborhood. Emmanuel Church is a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. History In 1908, G.P. Christian and J. H. Gibbony, two students at the Virginia Theological Seminary, organized a Sunday School for children in what was known as the Braddock Heights area of Alexandria. In 1910, a chapel was built as the Braddock Heights Episcopal Mission. During the 1911 Christmas holidays, the two seminarians serving at the mission decided to name the church "Emmanuel" after the Virginia Theological Seminary Chapel. Emmanuel Church is an historic Episcopal church at 42 Dearborn Street in Newport, Rhode Island. The church began as a mission of Newport's Trinity Church in 1841. In 1852, it was admitted into the diocese as Emmanuel Free Church in its own right. The current building was designed by architectural firm Cram, Goodhue & Ferguson in Late Gothic Revival style. It was built between 1900 and 1902, thanks to a donation in memory of John Nicholas Brown I by his widow, Natalie Bayard Brown. Brown donated the reredos and murals in 1921 in honor of Armistice Day. In the early 1930s, E. Power Biggs served as its organist. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
