Emir (; ar, أمير ' ), sometimes transliterated amir, amier, or ameer, is a word of Arabic origin that can refer to a male monarch, aristocrat, holder of high-ranking military or political office, or other person possessing actual or ceremonial authority. The title has a long history of use in the Arab World, East Africa, West Africa, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. In the modern era, when used as a formal monarchical title, it is roughly synonymous with "prince", applicable both to a son of a hereditary monarch, and to a reigning monarch of a sovereign principality, namely an emirate. The feminine form is emira ( '), a cognate for "princess". ''Emir '' is a 2010 Filipino drama-musical film by acclaimed Filipino director Chito S. Roño. The film revolves around a girl that becomes a domestic helper in a fictional oil-rich Arab nation of Yememeni. Plot Amelia, a girl from a poor Ilocano family, decides to go abroad and find her fortune and also help her family. She becomes a maid of a royal family in the Middle East, which is running out of time, for the wife of the Sheikh is giving birth to a child. The newborn child is a son named Ahmed, and the Sheikh's wife asks Amelia to take care of the baby, to which she agrees. Amelia grows fond of the baby, teaching him to speak Tagalog and play ''tumbang preso''. After twelve years of service, Amelia's life has improved. Emir Sevinç (born 7 September 1980) is a Turkish singer and songwriter. Born in Istanbul, he is a graduate of radio and television studies of Marmara University communication faculty. Emir released his first album ''Ben Sen Olamam'' in 2009. He made his debut with the album's lead single "Ben Sen Olamam", written and composed by Tarkan. The songs "Ben Sen Olamam", "Tornistan", "Eline Düştüm", "Şiki Şiki", and "Aşk mı Savaş mı?" from the album were all made into music videos. Cem Filiz (born 30 November 1980), better known by his stage name Cem Adrian, is a Turkish musician of Bosniak origin, singer-songwriter and record producer. Early life His father was a merchant, while his mother was a housewife. Adrian was born to a family from Bosnia in Edirne, as the second child of his parents. His real name is Cem Filiz. Adrian chose his stage name after Adrianople, the original name of Edirne in ancient times.
