Emil And Patricia Jones Convocation Center
The Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center, also known as the Jones Convocation Center or simply the JCC, is a 7,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Chicago, Illinois. Completed in 2007, the arena is home court for the Chicago State University Cougars men's and women's basketball teams. The arena replaced the Dickens Athletic Center, which only had capacity to seat 2,500 persons. The convocation center is unique among Illinois university athletic projects, as Chicago State University itself did not need to raise any money for the project; the money was allocated from the State of Illinois Treasury by then Senate President Emil Jones. Chicago Public High School League
The Chicago Public High School Athletic Association, commonly known as the Chicago Public League (CPL), is the interscholastic competition arm of the Chicago Public Schools. The governance of the CPL is set through the Department of Sports Administration and Facilities of CPS. Members History Origins of the Chicago Public League can be traced back to its predecessor, the Cook County High School League, which started during 1889-90. Some of the schools that participated in the Cook County League still exist today: Crane (as English High and Manual Training), Englewood, Lincoln Park (as North Division), Hyde Park, Phillips (as South Division), Calumet, Marshall, Austin, Lake (now Tilden), and Lake View. 2013 Great West Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2013 Great West Conference men's basketball tournament was held March 14–16, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center. Per NCAA regulations as a new Division I conference, the Great West champion would not have received an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament until 2020. The winner, however, did receive an automatic bid to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. This was the final GMC men's basketball tournament as the conference dissolved after the season due to its member schools joining other conferences. Emil Jones
Emil Jones Jr. (born October 18, 1935) is an American politician who was the President of the Illinois Senate from 2003 to 2009. A Democrat, Jones served in the Illinois Senate from 1983 to 2009, where he served as President of the Illinois Senate from 2003 to the end of his term. Cliff Alexander (born November 16, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for Sagesse Club of the Lebanese Basketball League, he last played for Suwon KT Sonicboom of the Korean Basketball League.
