Emblem Of Bangladesh
The national emblem of Bangladesh ( bn, বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় প্রতীক ''Bangladesher Jatiyô Pratik'') was adopted shortly after independence in 1971. Located on the emblem is a water lily, that is bordered on two sides by rice sheaves. Above the water lily are four stars and three connected jute leaves. The water lily is the country's national flower, and is representative of the many rivers that run through Bangladesh. Rice represents its presence as the staple food of Bangladesh, and for the agriculture of that nation. The four stars represent the four founding principles that were originally enshrined in the first constitution of Bangladesh in 1972: nationalism, secularism, socialism, and democracy. The details of the emblem is given as quoted below: The national emblem of the Republic is the national flower Shapla (''Nymphaea nouchali'') resting on water, having on each side an ear of paddy and being surmounted by three connected leave ...

Flag Of Bangladesh
The national flag, national flag of Bangladesh, was adopted officially on 17 January 1972. It consists of a red disc or sun on top of a dark green banner. The red disc is offset slightly toward the hoist so that it appears centered when the flag is flying. While there are many interpretations, according to Shib Narayan Das who put the map on the first flag design, green on the flag represented the landscape and the red circle represented the sun, symbolising a new day and end of oppression. The flag is based on a similar flag used during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, which had a yellow map of the country inside the red disc. In 1972 this map was removed from the flag. One reason given was the difficulty for rendering the map correctly on both sides of the flag. The civil ensign and naval ensign place it in the Flag terminology, canton of a red or white field, respectively. Origin The first version of the flag was designed and made by a section of student leaders and activ ...

Paisa
Paisa (also transliterated as ''pice'', ''pesa'', ''poysha'', ''poisha'' and ''baisa'') is a monetary unit in several countries. The word is also a generalised idiom for money and wealth. In India, Nepal, and Pakistan, the ''Paisa'' currently equals of a Rupee. In Bangladesh, the ''Poysha'' equals of a Bangladeshi Taka. In Oman, the ''Baisa'' equals of an Omani Rial. Etymology The word ''paisa'' is from the Sanskrit term ''padāṁśa'' (, basic unit), meaning 'quarter part base', from ''pada'' () "foot or quarter or base" and ''aṁśa'' () "part or unit". The pesa was also in use in colonial Kenya. The colloquial term for money in Burmese, ''paiksan'' (), is derived from the Hindi term ''paisa'' (). History Chaulukya coins were often called "Gadhaiya Paise" (9th-10th century CE). Until the 1950s in India and Pakistan (and before 1947 in British India), the paisa was equivalent to 3 pies, of an anna, or of a rupee. After the transition from a non-decimal currency to ...

East Pakistan
East Pakistan was a Pakistani province established in 1955 by the One Unit Policy, renaming the province as such from East Bengal, which, in modern times, is split between India and Bangladesh. Its land borders were with India and Myanmar, with a coastline on the Bay of Bengal. East Pakistanis were popularly known as "Pakistani Bengalis"; to distinguish this region from India's state West Bengal (which is also known as "Indian Bengal"), East Pakistan was known as "Pakistani Bengal". In 1971, East Pakistan became the newly independent state Bangladesh, which means "country of Bengal" in Bengali. East Pakistan was renamed from East Bengal by the One Unit Scheme of Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Ali of Bogra. The Constitution of Pakistan of 1956 replaced the Pakistani monarchy with an Islamic republic. Bengali politician H. S. Suhrawardy served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan between 1956 and 1957 and a Bengali bureaucrat Iskander Mirza became the first President of Pa ...
