Skjomen
or is a small fjord that branches off from the main Ofotfjorden in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the Ofoten district in Northern Norway, just south of the town of Narvik. The European route E6 highway crosses the Skjomen fjord over the Skjomen Bridge, just south of the mouth of the fjord. Skjomdalen A sheltered valley called "Skjomdalen" extends southward from the end of the fjord. The valley is inhabited by approximately 400 people. The population is spread out over several very small villages in the valley, with the largest being Elvegård which functions as a very small service centre for the valley. Skjomen Church
Skjomen Church ( no, Skjomen kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Elvegård. It is the church for the Skjomen parish which is part of the Ofoten prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1893 using plans drawn up by the architect Ole Scheistrøen. The church seats about 240 people. Ofoten is a traditional district in Nordland county in Northern Norway. It consists of the municipalities of Tysfjord, Ballangen, Evenes, Tjeldsund, Narvik, and Lødingen.
