Peter Pritchard
Peter Charles Howard Pritchard (June 26, 1943 – February 25, 2020) was a leading turtle zoologist. Pritchard was educated at Oxford University and the University of Florida, where he received a Ph.D. and specialized in Zoology. He was most commonly known for his career of almost 40 years for the conservation of turtles. He worked with the World Wildlife Fund, spending four years there before joining Audubon Florida in 1973 as assistant executive director, senior vice president and acting president. In 1997, he founded a turtle conservation organization called the Chelonian Research Institute in Oviedo, Florida. Scott A. Thomson, curator of the Chelonian Research Institute notes that the CRI has 14500 tortoise and turtle specimens registered with some 2000 unregistered specimens. Yolarnie Amepou
Yolarnie Amepou (born 1988) is a zoologist and conservationist from Papua New Guinea. She is known for her work to protect the Papuan softshell turtle ('' Carettochelys insculpta'') in Kikori. In 2017 she was a Youth Champion for the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. She was also received a Pride of Papua New Guinea Award for Environment in 2015. Biography Amepou was born in Madang in 1988 and attended Holy Spirit Primary School, then Tushab Secondary School. She studied at the University of Papua New Guinea and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science with a focus on marine biology. Leonhard Schultze-Jena
Leonhard Schultze-Jena (full name: Leonhard Sigmund Friedrich Kuno Klaus Schultze-Jena; born May 28, 1872 in Jena; died March 28, 1955 in Marburg) was a German explorer, zoologist, and anthropologist known for his explorations of German Southwest Africa and New Guinea, as well as for his studies on Mesoamerican languages. In 1912, he adopted the surname Schultze-Jena from an honorary title that was given to his father, gynecologist and obstetrician Bernhard Sigmund Schultze. The Leonhard Schultze River and Leonhard Schultze languages of Papua New Guinea are named after him.
