Elsbeth Van Rooy-Vink
Elisabet "Elsbeth" van Rooy-Vink (born 25 January 1973 in Wijk en Aalburg) is a Dutch cyclist specializing in competitive mountain biking. Van Rooy-Vink represented the Netherlands at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta in both the road race and mountain biking, while at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens she only competed in mountain biking. In Atlanta's road race, she finished in 28th position, 53 seconds behind the winner. She did better in mountain biking, ranking fifth. Wijk En Aalburg
Wijk en Aalburg is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Altena, North Brabant, Altena, about 15 km northwest of 's-Hertogenbosch. History Aalburg was first mentioned in 889 as Alburch. The etymology is unclear. Wijk was first mentioned in 1208 as Wic and means "neighbourhood". Both villages developed along the Afgedamde Maas in the Middle Ages and merged into a single settlement. The villages were frequently flooded. The tower of the Dutch Reformed church of Aalburg probably dates from the 14th century. The church has been extensively modified in 1630. The church of Wijk is a basilica like church which was extensively altered in the 18th century.
