Stukely Stafford Ellsworth, Sr., (September 26, 1769March 31, 1837) was an American politician from New York state. He served two terms in the New York State Assembly, representing Otsego County, and later served in the New York State Senate. Biography Stukeley Ellsworth was born September 26, 1769, in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. He was raised and lived most of his life in Otsego County, New York, living first at the town of Laurens, then Hartwick. He was a justice of the peace and town supervisor before being elected to the New York State Assembly in 1817 and 1820. He served in the 41st and 44th legislative sessions. In 1824, he was elected to a four-year term in the New York State Senate. He was injured in a stage coach accident during one of his trips to the Senate, and never fully recovered from the injury. Robert Fred Ellsworth (June 11, 1926 – May 9, 2011) was an American legislator and diplomat. He served as the United States Permanent Representative to NATO (an ambassadorial-level appointment) between 1969 and 1971. He had previously served three terms as a Republican Member of Congress from Kansas, from 1961 to 1967, and as an Assistant to the President during the presidency of Richard Nixon; under President Gerald Ford, he was Deputy Secretary of Defense. Ellsworth also served as assistant to the chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission. Ellsworth was born in Lawrence, Kansas, and was educated in the public schools of that city. Oliver Ellsworth (April 29, 1745 – November 26, 1807) was a Founding Father of the United States, attorney, jurist, politician, and diplomat. Ellsworth was a framer of the United States Constitution, United States senator from Connecticut, and the third chief justice of the United States. Additionally, he received 11 electoral votes in the 1796 presidential election. Born in Windsor, Connecticut, Ellsworth attended the College of New Jersey where he helped found the American Whig–Cliosophic Society. Lincoln Ellsworth (May 12, 1880 – May 26, 1951) was a polar explorer from the United States and a major benefactor of the American Museum of Natural History. Biography Lincoln Ellsworth was born on May 12, 1880, to James Ellsworth and Eva Frances Butler in Chicago, Illinois. He also lived in Hudson, Ohio, as a child. He attended The Hill School and took two years longer than usual to graduate, before entering the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale University.
