Ellie Brush
Ellie Katherine Brush (born 19 August 1988) is an Australian sportswoman who plays Association football, soccer for Canberra United FC , Canberra United in the Australian A-League Women. She has also played Australian rules football for Greater Western Sydney Giants#AFL Women's team, Greater Western Sydney in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She also studied physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University. Club career Brush joined Canberra United for their inaugural season in 2008 and was named captain, leading the team to the final. Brush shared the captaincy with Lydia Williams for the 2009 season and has captained all the following seasons, including the 2011/12 season when Canberra United took home the W-League premiership. She received her 50th cap for Canberra United on 5 December 2012 against Perth Glory. Brush played with the Norwegian team Avaldsnes IL for the 2013 season. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The 2013–14 W-League season was the sixth season of the W-League, the Australian national women's association football competition. The season consisted of twelve matchdays followed by a finals series. The regular season started on 9 November 2013 and concluded on 9 February 2014. The Grand Final took place on 23 February 2014. The 2014 W-League season was the seventh season of the W-League, the Australian national women's association football competition. The regular season started on 13 September 2014 and concluded on 7 December 2014. The Grand Final took place on 21 December 2014. W-League (Australia)
A-League Women (known as the Liberty A-League for sponsorship reasons), formerly the W-League, is the top-division women's soccer league in Australia. The W-League was established in 2008 by Football Australia (then known as Football Federation Australia) and was originally composed of eight teams of which seven had an affiliation with an existing A-League Men club. As of the 2021–22 season, the league is contested by ten teams. The league, as well as the A-League Men and A-League Youth are administered by the Australian Professional Leagues. The Italy women's national football team () has represented Italy in international women's football since their inception in 1968. The team is controlled by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), the governing body for football in Italy.
