Elise Takosi
Elise Takosi (born 7 November 1988) is a track and field athlete from New Caledonia. At the 2009 Pacific Mini Games (Rarotonga), Takosi won silver for hammer throw with a throw of 49.80 metres. At the 2013 Pacific Mini Games ( Mata-Utu), she won gold for hammer throw, with a throw of 53.63 metres. She also placed fifth for both the discus throw (35.12 metres) and shot put (11.32 metres). Takosi has won three gold medals for hammer throw at the Pacific Games (2007, 2011, and 2015). At the 2007 Pacific Games in Apia she won with a throw of 47.41 metres, at the 2011 Pacific Games in Nouméa, she had a throw of 50.13 metres, and at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby wi, also setting the record for the games. Takosi holds the record for New Caledonia in Hammer throw, with her personal best of 54.08 metres, set on 13 June 2011 in Colmar, France. Athletics At The Pacific Games
Athletics competitions have been held at every Pacific Games since the inaugural edition 1963 in Suva, Fiji and at every Pacific Mini Games since the inaugural edition 1981 in Honiara, Solomon Islands. Both events are open for the 22 member federations of the Pacific Games Council. The Pacific Games started as ''South Pacific Games'' and were renamed in 2011, whereas the Pacific Mini Games started as ''South Pacific Mini Games'' and were renamed in 2009. Shot Put
The shot put is a track and field event involving "putting" (throwing) a heavy spherical ball—the ''shot''—as far as possible. The shot put competition for men has been a part of the modern Olympics since their revival in 1896, and women's competition began in 1948. Niort
Niort (; Poitevin: ''Niàu''; oc, Niòrt; la, Novioritum) is a commune in the Deux-Sèvres department, western France. It is the prefecture of Deux-Sèvres. The population of Niort is 58,707 (2017) and more than 177,000 people live in the urban area. 2007 Pacific Games
The 2007 South Pacific Games were held in Apia, Samoa, from 25 August to 8 September 2007. The Games were the thirteenth to be held since the inception of the South Pacific Games in 1963, and included traditional multi-sport event disciplines, such as athletics and swimming, alongside region-specific and smaller events such as outrigger canoeing, surfing and lawn bowls. The principal venue for the Games was Apia Park, with other events taking place at the Faleata Sporting Complex and at other locations around Samoa. The cost of the games was reported to be US$92 million, and resulted in significant government debt for Samoa due to infrastructure projects which included replacement bridges and roads.
