Melsele
Melsele is a town in the Belgian province of East Flanders, between the city of Beveren and the nearby town of Zwijndrecht. Tram route 3 which starts just outside the town connects it to Zwijndrecht and Antwerp. The town's road links include the E17 (France - Antwerp) and the E34 (Knokke-Heist - Antwerp). History Melsele is one of the oldest settlements of Waasland. Ceramics and coins have been found from the Roman period. The parish had been established before the year 1000. In 1375, dikes were constructed to protect the polder, however during the 14th and 15th century there were several floods. The Church of Our Lady was built from 13th to the 17th century, and is a registered heritage site (''beschermd erfgoed''). In 1511, a miraculous Madonna statue was discovered under a lime tree near the hamlet Gaverland which from then on became a site of pilgrimage. The Our Lady in Gaverland Chapel was built at the site between 1862 and 1870. In 1977 the municipality was merged wi ...

Belgian People
Belgians ( nl, Belgen; french: Belges; german: Belgier) are people identified with the Belgium, Kingdom of Belgium, a federation, federal state in Western Europe. As Belgium is a multinational state, this connection may be residential, legal, historical, or cultural rather than ethnic. The majority of Belgians, however, belong to two distinct ethnic groups or ''communities'' ( nl, gemeenschap, links=no; french: communauté, links=no) native to the country, i.e. its historical regions: Flemings in Flanders, who speak Dutch language, Dutch; and Walloons in Wallonia, who speak French language, French or Walloon language, Walloon. There is also a substantial Belgian diaspora, which has settled primarily in the Belgian Americans, United States, Belgian Canadians, Canada, France, and the Netherlands. Etymology The Belgian Revolution, 1830 revolution led to the establishment of an independent country under a Provisional Government of Belgium, provisional government and a national Congr ...

International Federation Of Gymnastics
The International Gymnastics Federation (French: Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique, FIG) is the body governing all disciplines of competitive gymnastics. Its headquarters is in Lausanne, Switzerland. It was founded on July 23, 1881, in Liège, Belgium, making it the world's oldest existing international sports organisation. Originally called the European Federation of Gymnastics, it had three member countries—Belgium, France and the Netherlands—until 1921, when non-European countries were admitted and it received its current name. The federation sets the rules, known as the Code of Points, that regulate how gymnasts' performances are evaluated. Seven gymnastics disciplines are governed by the FIG: artistic gymnastics, further classified as men's artistic gymnastics (MAG) and women's artistic gymnastics (WAG); rhythmic gymnastics (RG); aerobic gymnastics (AER); acrobatic gymnastics (ACRO); trampolining (TRA); Double mini trampoline (DMT), tumbling (TUM) and ...

''La Libre Belgique'' (; literally ''The Free Belgium''), currently sold under the name ''La Libre'', is a major daily newspaper in Belgium. Together with ''Le Soir'', it is one of the country's major French language newspapers and is popular in Brussels and Wallonia. ''La Libre'' was founded in 1884 and has historically had a centre-right Christian Democratic political stance. The papers is particularly celebrated for its role as an underground newspaper during World War I and World War II when Belgium was occupied. Since 1999, the newspaper has become increasingly liberal but is still considered more conservative than ''Le Soir''. History The modern ''La Libre'' traces its origins to the ''Le Patriote'' newspaper, founded by Victor and Louis Jourdain in 1884. Politically, the newspaper supported the dominant centre-right Catholic Party. After the German invasion of Belgium in World War I, ''Le Patriote'' was banned by the German occupation authorities. In February 1915, ho ...
