Elijah Martin
Elijah Kain Martin (born July 4, 1996) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for San Diego Loyal in the USL Championship. Youth From Fresno, California, Martin played for Cal Odyssey of the U.S. Development Academy for three years before joining the USL PDL side of the IMG Academy in 2013. Martin joined the LA Galaxy U-17/18 squad for the 2013–2014 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. Professional career Before the 2014 USL Pro season, Martin signed for the LA Galaxy II squad, the reserve side of the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer. Martin then made his debut for the Galaxy II side on June 8, 2014 against the Dayton Dutch Lions. He came on as a halftime substitute for Dragan Stojkov as the Galaxy II won 5–1. Dayton Dutch Lions is an American association football, soccer team based in Dayton, Ohio, United States. Founded in 2009, the team plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. From 2011 to 2014, the team played in the USL Professional Division (USL Pro). 2015 USL Season
The 2015 USL season was the fifth season of the United Soccer League (USL) and the first under its new name (previously the league was called USL Pro). This season represented a substantial expansion from 14 teams in 2014 to 24 teams in 2015, and the division of the league into two conferences. It is also the 29th season of third-division soccer in the United States. Seven Major League Soccer clubs created reserve franchises in the USL for the 2015 season, following the lead of the LA Galaxy, who had done so in 2014: FC Montreal, New York Red Bulls II, Portland Timbers 2, Real Monarchs, Seattle Sounders FC 2, Toronto FC II, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.
