Elida Almeida (born 1993) is a Cape Verdean singer. Biography Elida Sofia Cabral Almeida was born in Pedra Badejo in the east of Santiago Island. She spent her childhood years with some difficulty, in the mountains of Santiago. At 17, she sang at church, she listened to the radio, she said on that she grew up on a place without electricity or necessities. She worked on radio commentaries, especially with DJs and presenters. Elidà Amigó i Montanya (September 5, 1935 – September 9, 2020) was an Andorran historian, archivist, activist, and suffragist. A leader in the feminist movement that led to Andorran women gaining the right to vote in 1970, she was also an academic expert on the history and sociology of the microstate of Andorra. She has been described as "the first Andorran intellectual to bring critical awareness to the condition of women" in the principality. Elida Luisa Campodónico Moreno (6 August 1894 – 6 January 1960) was a Panamanian teacher, women's rights advocate and attorney. She was one of the founders of the National Feminist Party of Panama and worked for women to gain Women's suffrage, voting rights. She established the Panamanian branch of Gota de Leche, La Gota de Leche and was the second woman in Panama to become an attorney. After women won the right to vote, Campodónico joined the diplomatic corps and became the first woman ambassador in Latin America, when she was appointed as Panama's ambassador to Mexico in 1952. Élida Passo (1867–1893) was an Argentine pharmacist, the first woman to practice that profession in her country and the first woman university graduate in South America. Biography Élida Passo was born in Buenos Aires in 1867, the daughter of a pharmacist. When she began her higher education, she first pursued a major in Humanities and Philosophy, and had a brief stint in Exact, Physical, and Natural Sciences, both faculties of the University of Buenos Aires. She eventually decided to follow in the footsteps of her father and study pharmacy. She graduated in 1885, becoming the first South American woman to earn a university degree. Later she wanted to study medicine, but the university authorities denied her entry, arguing that it would be too difficult or uncomfortable for a woman to study with all male colleagues. Elida B. Rumsey (June 6, 1842 – June 17, 1919), also referred to by her married name, Elida Fowle, was a singer, philanthropist, and Union nurse during the American Civil War. Too young to join Dorothea Dix's army nursing service, Rumsey volunteered for three years of the war. Early life Elida Barker Rumsey was born in New York City on June 6, 1842, the daughter of John Wickliffe Rumsey and Mary Agnes Underhill Rumsey. Her father owned a hosiery shop, and later worked in banking. As a child, Rumsey's parents moved to Washington, D.C. which began Rumsey's interest in political action. At the time of southern secession, Rumsey was engaged to John A. Fowle who was employed in the Navy. Élida Stantic (born April 7, 1942), and more commonly known and credited as Lita Stantic, is an Argentine cinema producer, screenplay writer, and director. Stantic is one of the most important producers working in the "New Argentine Cinema," responsible for the debut films of some of the most critically well regarded new Argentine filmmakers such as Lucrecia Martel, Pablo Trapero, and Israel Adrián Caetano. Élida María Vigo (born 6 October 1944, in San Juan Province) is an Argentine politician. From 2005 to 2011 she sat in the Argentine Senate representing Misiones Province in the majority block of the Front for Victory. Vigo followed the left wing politics of Jorge Abelardo Ramos who described his ideology as the ' National Left'. She founded a party, the Movement for a New Country, which is part of the electoral alliance, the Front for the Renewal of Concordia.
