Elgon Cup (women's)
The women's Elgon Cup was an annual competition held between the national rugby union teams of Kenya and Uganda. It ran parallel with the men's Elgon Cup, which has been running since 2004. The cup was competed for over two legs - one in each country. Home matches for Kenya were usually played at the RFUEA Ground, Nairobi, Kenya, whilst Uganda usually played their home matches at the Kyadondo Grounds, Kampala, Uganda. History In 2011, prior to the first leg, the Ugandan and Kenyan unions had agreed that the women’s Elgon cup would be a one off tie with the winners being crowned in Nairobi as the URU had insufficient funds to host the Kenyans in Kampala for the return leg. Rugby Africa Women's Cup
The Rugby Africa Women's Cup is an international women's rugby union competition contested by women's national teams from Africa. History Rugby Africa Women's Cup was initially launched in 2019. Moi International Sports Centre
The Moi International Sports Centre (abbreviated as MISC) is a multi-purpose stadium in Kasarani, Kenya. It was built in 1987 for the All-Africa Games held in Nairobi. The facilities include a 60,000 seat arena with a running track and a pitch used for football and rugby union, a competition size swimming pool, an indoor arena and a 108-bed capacity hotel. Located at 1,612 metres above sea level, it is slightly above 1 mile in altitude. Zimbabwe Rugby Union
The Zimbabwe Rugby Union was founded in 1895 as the Rhodesia Rugby Football Union, and is the governing body of rugby union in Zimbabwe. When the Pioneer Column arrived in Rhodesia from the Cape Province in 1890 it brought with it the country's first rugby players. The oldest clubs in the country were formed in 1894 in Bulawayo and the Rhodesia Rugby Football Union was founded one year later in 1895. Rhodesia competed in the second division of South Africa's Currie Cup. In 1980 the Rhodesia Rugby Football Union was renamed the Zimbabwe Rugby Union when the country's name changed as well. Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) is the governing body for rugby union in Kenya. It was founded in 1970 and is affiliated to Rugby Africa and the international governing body World Rugby.
