Oppressor
Oppressor was a technical death metal band from Chicago, Illinois, which formed in 1991 and disbanded in 1999. They released three albums. Three of the band's members went on to form alternative metal band Soil. History Oppressor was started in May 1991 by Tim King and Adam Zadel. A month later, they found another guitarist, Jim Stopper, and a drummer, Tom Schofield. They recorded their first demo, ''World Abomination'', in 1991. A second demo, ''As Blood Flows'', recorded in 1992, got them a record deal with Red Light Records, who released their first full-length album, '' Solstice of Oppression'', in 1994. Shortly after the album's release, Red Light went bankrupt and the band was forced to find another label. In the meantime, the band released a one-off live album/compilation album with Megalithic Records, entitled ''Oppression Live/As Blood Flows''. Technical death metal (also referred to as tech-death) is a musical subgenre of death metal that began and developed in the early- to mid-1990s, with particular focus on challenging, demanding instrumental skill and complex songwriting. Technical experimentation in death metal began in the late 1980s and early 1990s by four bands that are often grouped together as "technical death metal's Big Four" – Death, Pestilence, Atheist, and Cynic – as well as Nocturnus; all but Pestilence being part of the Florida death metal scene. Some of the distinct features of this genre include dynamic song structures, complex and atypical rhythmic structures, abundant use of diminished chords and arpeggios, frequent employment of odd time chord progressions, and constant use of string skipping on the guitars. Adam Zadel
Soil (often stylized as SOiL) is an American rock band that was formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1997. After some independent releases, the band was the first rock group signed to J Records and achieved mainstream success with their major label debut, ''Scars'', in 2001. The J Records second album, '' Redefine'', was released in 2004 and the band embarked upon a worldwide tour to follow. In late 2004, frontman Ryan McCombs left the group. He would go on to become the new vocalist of Drowning Pool the following year. The band recruited ex-Diesel Machine vocalist A.J. Cavalier as its new singer and released two more studio albums (''True Self'' and '' Picture Perfect'') through independent labels in 2006 and 2009 respectively. Tim King
Tim King (born June 15, 1967) is an American educator and former non-profit leader, and the founder and CEO of Urban Prep Academies, a network of all-male charter public high schools in Chicago. King and Urban Prep have received national attention for the fact that since the school's first graduating class in 2010, 100% of its graduates have been accepted into a four-year college or university. Personal life King was born in Chicago and attended St. Ignatius College Prep, and completed his bachelors and Juris Doctor degrees at Georgetown University. While at the Georgetown University Law Center, King became involved working as a teacher at a nearby Catholic high school, and eventually he determined to pursue teaching as a full-time career. The human voice consists of sound made by a human being using the vocal tract, including talking, singing, laughing, crying, screaming, shouting, humming or yelling.
