During more than a century of evolution of the electric power industry, the economics of the electricity markets had undergone enormous changes for reasons ranging from the technological advances on supply and demand sides to politics and ideology. List Of Countries By Electricity Consumption
This list of countries by electric energy consumption is mostly based on the Energy Information Administration. Several non-sovereign entities are also included for information purposes, with their parent state noted. The per capita data for many countries may be slightly inaccurate as population data may not be for the same year as the consumption data. Population data were obtained mainly from the World Bank in 2019 with some exceptions, in which case they were obtained from the Wikipedia pages for the corresponding countries/territories. Mains electricity by country includes a list of countries and territories, with the plugs, voltages and frequencies they commonly use for providing electrical power to low voltage appliances, equipment, and lighting typically found in homes and offices. (For industrial machinery, see industrial and multiphase power plugs and sockets.) Some countries have more than one voltage available. For example, in North America the supply to most premises is 2 phase plus neutral, with 240 volts between the phases and 120 volts between either of the phases and neutral.
